Composition

Active ingredient-acyclovir 5gsupport substances-nipazole. nipagin, cremophor A 6. cremophor A25. cetyl alcohol, propylene glycol, petroleum jelly oil, purified water.

Pharmacological action

Acyclovir is active against Herpes simplex types 1 and 2, Varicella zoster virus, Epstein Barr virus and cytomegaloviruses. Thymidine kinase of virus-infected cells converts acyclovir to mono -, di-and triphosphate through a series of sequential activo reactions. The latter interacts with viral DNA polymerase and is embedded in the DNA that is synthesized for new viruses. Thus, “defective” viral DNA is formed, which leads to suppression of replication of new generations of viruses. Pharmacokinetics: When applied topically, it is practically not absorbed through damaged skin, and does not enter the systemic circulation.

Indications

Skin and mucosal infections caused by Herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2, genital herpes, shingles, chickenpox.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Adequate and controlled clinical studies of the safety of the drug during pregnancy have not been conducted. Use is indicated only in cases where the intended benefit to the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus.

During the treatment period, it is necessary to decide whether to stop breastfeeding.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to acyclovir and other components of the drug. With caution-pregnancy, lactation, dehydration, kidney failure.

Side effects

Hyperemia, dryness, flaking of the skin; burning, inflammation in contact with the mucous membranes. Allergic dermatitis may develop.

Interaction

When applied externally, no interaction with other drugs was detected.

How to take, course of use and dosage

Externally. The drug is applied 5 times a day (every 4 hours) in a thin layer on the affected and adjacent skin areas. The cream is applied either with a cotton swab or with clean hands to avoid additional infection of the affected areas. Therapy should be continued until a crust forms on the vesicles, or until they completely heal. The duration of therapy is on average 5 days and should not exceed 10 days.

Special instructions

To achieve the maximum therapeutic effect, it is necessary to start using the drug as early as possible after the onset of infection (at the first signs of the disease: burning, itching, tingling, a feeling of tension and redness).

The cream is not recommended to be applied to the mucous membranes of the mouth and eyes, as it is possible to develop severe local inflammation. When treating genital herpes, avoid sexual contact or use condoms, as the use of acyclovir does not prevent transmission of the virus to partners.

5% cream for external use in aluminum tubes of 3,5,10 g. Together with the instructions for use, place in a pack of cardboard.
