Pharmaceutical action:
Anti-Angina formula is a drug with antimicrobial and local anesthetic action for topical use in ENT practice and dentistry. Antibacterial activity: the antiseptic chlorhexidine destroys pathogens of infectious diseases of the oral cavity and pharynx ( Streptococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus pneumoniae, Corynebacterium spp., Haemophilus Influenzae, Klebsiella spp. ).
Antifungal activity: chlorhexidine is active in candidiasis.
Local anaesthetic effect: thanks to the local anaesthetic tetracaine.
Vitamin C increases the body’s resistance to infectious diseases.
Indications
Prevention, etiotropic and symptomatic treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity and pharynx caused by microorganisms sensitive to chlorhexidine (pharyngitis, tonsillitis, the initial stage of angina, periodontal disease, stomatitis, gingivitis, the condition after tonsillectomy or tooth extraction, etc. ); complex therapy of angina (use at the first signs of the disease – with sore throat and tickling).
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, damage or inflammation of the mucous membranes, in highly vascularized areas, phenylketonuria, children (up to 10 years).
With caution: Â during pregnancy and lactation, diabetes mellitus, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, hemochromatosis, sideroblastic anemia, thalassemia, hyperoxaluria, oxalosis, and urolithiasis.
Side effects
Allergic reactions.
Interaction
Tetracaine reduces the antibacterial activity of sulfonamide preparations. Vasoconstrictors prolong the effect and reduce the toxicity of tetracaine.
Ascorbic acid increases the concentration of benzylpenicillin and tetracyclines in the blood, increases the risk of crystalluria during treatment with short-acting salicylates and sulfonamides, and reduces the concentration of oral contraceptives in the blood.
How to take, course of use and dosage
Adults and children from 15 years of age: 6 lozenges a day with an interval of 2 hours.
Children from 5 to 10 years old: Â 3 lozenges a day with an interval of 4 hours.
Children from 10 to 15 years: 4 lozenges a day with an interval of 3 hours.
Overdose
Symptoms: Â dizziness, general weakness, cyanosis, agitation, restlessness, muscle tremor, respiratory disorders, nausea, vomiting.
Treatment: Â gastric lavage, use of saline laxatives; symptomatic therapy.
Special instructions
It is not recommended to use simultaneously with preparations for the treatment of the oral cavity and pharynx containing iodine (Lugol’s solution, povidone-iodine).
Ascorbic acid, which is part of the drug, can change the results of some laboratory tests, which should be reported during the tests.
