Composition for 1 suppository

Active ingredients:

belladonna extract thick-20 mg (containing the sum of alkaloids in terms of hyoscyamine 1.5% – 0.3 mg),

bismuth tribromphenolate and bismuth oxide complex (xeroform) – 100 mg,

zinc sulfate heptahydrate-50 mg;

excipients:  glycerol, purified water, distilled monoglycerides, solid fat (Vitepsol (brands H 15, W 35), Suppository (brands NA 15, NAS 50)) – until a suppository weighing 2250 mg is obtained.

Pharmacological properties

Anti-hemorrhoidal combined remedy. The drug Anusol has antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, analgesic, local anti-inflammatory, astringent and drying effects.

Indications

Hemorrhoids; anal fissures.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

The use of the drug during pregnancy and lactation is contraindicated. If it is necessary to use the drug during lactation, breastfeeding should be discontinued.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, decompensated heart failure, tachyarrhythmia, myasthenia gravis, intestinal atony, angle-closure glaucoma, prostatic hypertrophy with impaired urine outflow, pregnancy, lactation, children (up to 12 years).

With caution

Vegetative neuropathy, hyperthyroidism, coronary heart disease, chronic heart failure, mitral stenosis, kidney disease, hiatal hernia, reflux esophagitis, increased body temperature (the likelihood of fever and heat stroke due to suppression of sweat gland activity).

Side effects

Dryness of the oral mucosa, thirst, constipation, diarrhea, tachycardia, palpitations, mydriasis, paresis of accommodation, headache, dizziness, sleep disturbance, drowsiness, allergic reactions, burning sensation in the anus. In these cases, you should stop using the drug and consult a doctor.

Interaction

When used concomitantly with tricyclic antidepressants, it is possible to increase the m-holinoblocking effects of the drug (dry mouth, accommodation disorders, tachycardia, constipation, etc. ).

When used with drugs that increase the heart rate (including procainamide) – severe tachycardia is possible.

Monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors increase the risk of side effects and enhance the positive chrono-and bathotropic effects; when combined with cardiac glycosides, they increase the positive bathotropic effect.

When taking ethanol (alcohol) simultaneously with belladonna preparations, it is possible to increase the inhibitory effect on the central nervous system (CNS).

How to take, course of use and dosage

Rectally. 1 suppository 1-3 times a day after a cleansing enema or spontaneous bowel movement.

The maximum daily dose of the drug is 7 suppositories. The duration of treatment is 10-14 days.

Overdose

Symptoms:  nausea, vomiting, psychomotor agitation, convulsions, urinary retention, decreased sweating, hyperthermia.

In case of overdose, you should immediately stop using the drug and consult a doctor.

Treatment: symptomatic.

Special instructions

Possible penetration of belladonna alkaloids through the blood-brain barrier and possible interaction with drugs affecting the central nervous system should be considered. In therapeutic doses, belladonna alkaloids have a moderate stimulating effect on the central nervous system, in large doses — an exciting effect, in toxic doses-agitation, hallucinations, followed by inhibition and coma. Concomitant use of belladonna extract suppositories and other drugs with anticholinergic activity should be avoided, as the likelihood of side effects increases.

Belladonna extract helps to reduce the rate of absorption of jointly used drugs and other drugs due to inhibition of the motor function of the gastrointestinal tract.

Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and work with mechanisms

During the treatment period, care should be taken when driving vehicles and engaging in other potentially dangerous activities that require increased concentration of attention, speed of psychomotor reactions and good eyesight.
