Active ingredients:
ascorbic acid 1000 mg.
Auxiliary substances:
sodium bicarbonate;
sorbitol;
citric acid;
polyethylene glycol;
saccharin;
aspartame;
aromatic additive “orange”;
dye E-110 (sunset yellow).
Pharmacological action
Ascorbic acid plays an important role in regulating redox processes, carbohydrate metabolism, blood clotting, tissue regeneration; participates in the synthesis of corticosteroids, collagen and procollagen; normalizes capillary permeability, reduces the need for vitamins B1, B2, A, E, folic acid, pantothenic acid. It has antiplatelet and pronounced antioxidant properties.
Activates proteolytic enzymes, participates in the exchange of aromatic amino acids, pigments and cholesterol, promotes the accumulation of glycogen in the liver. Due to the activation of respiratory enzymes in the liver, it enhances its detoxification and protein-forming functions, increases the synthesis of prothrombin. Improves bile secretion, restores the external secretory function of the pancreas and the endocrine function of the thyroid gland. Promotes phagocytosis, increases the body’s resistance to infections.
Indications
-hypo-and vitamin C deficiency (prevention and treatment).
As an auxiliary tool:
– hemorrhagic diathesis;- nasal, pulmonary, uterine and other bleeding; – acute radiation sickness; – overdose of anticoagulants; – sluggish healing of wounds and bone fractures;- increased physical and mental stress; – during recovery from severe and long-term illnesses.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
CATEGORY OF ACTION ON THE FETUS. C (Studies of animal reproduction have shown an adverse effect on the fetus, and adequate and strictly controlled studies in pregnant women have not been conducted, but the potential benefits associated with the use of drugs in pregnant women may justify its use, despite the possible risk. )
Contraindications
-hypersensitivity to the components of the drug Askovit;- increased blood clotting;- thrombophlebitis; – tendency to thrombosis; – diabetes mellitus.
Side effects
Allergic reactions.
Irritation of the gastrointestinal mucosa, arterial hypertension, metabolic disorders, inhibition of the function of the insular apparatus of the pancreas, thrombocytosis, thrombosis.
How to take, course of use and dosage
Inside, after eating, after dissolving the tablet in half a glass of water.
For preventive purposes-500 mg / day, for therapeutic purposes-1000 mg/day.
Overdose
Symptoms: with prolonged use of large doses (more than 1 g) – headache, increased excitability of the central nervous system, insomnia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, hyperacid gastritis, ulceration of the gastrointestinal mucosa, suppression of the function of the insular pancreatic apparatus (hyperglycemia, glucosuria), hyperoxaluria, neerolithiasis (from calcium oxalate), damage to the glomerular apparatus of the kidneys, moderate pollakiuria (when taking a dose of more than 600 mg/day).
Reduced capillary permeability (possible deterioration of tissue trophism, increased blood pressure, hypercoagulation, development of microangiopathies). With intravenous use in high doses – the threat of termination of pregnancy (due to estrogenemia), hemolysis of red blood cells.
Treatment: symptomatic, forced diuresis.
Special instructions
Due to the stimulating effect of ascorbic acid on the synthesis of corticosteroid hormones, it is necessary to monitor the function of the adrenal glands and blood pressure. With prolonged use of large doses of Ascovit, the function of the pancreatic insular apparatus may be inhibited, so it should be regularly monitored during treatment.
In patients with high iron content in the body, ascorbic acid should be used in minimal doses.
Prescribing ascorbic acid to patients with rapidly proliferating and intensely metastatic tumors may worsen the course of the process.
Ascorbic acid as a reducing agent can distort the results of various laboratory tests (blood glucose, bilirubin, liver transaminase activity, and LDH).
