Atheroclefit® is a liquid extract of red clover grass collected during the flowering phase. The extract is obtained by double extraction of red clover grass with 40% ethanol.

According to the results of preclinical studies, liquid extract of red clover grass has a moderate hypolipidemic effect: it helps to reduce the concentration of total cholesterol, the concentration of low-density lipoproteins (LDL) and increase the concentration of high-density lipoproteins (HDL).

The mechanism of action of the liquid extract of red clover herb is associated with the redistribution of cholesterol from LDL to HDL, in which cholesterol is more quickly metabolized and excreted from the body.

Liquid extract of red clover grass also helps to reduce the intensity of lipid peroxidation, as a result of which the peroxide modification of lipoproteins decreases and the permeability of the vascular wall is normalized.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

The drug is contraindicated for use during pregnancy and lactation. If it is necessary to prescribe the drug during lactation, breastfeeding should be discontinued.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug; age up to 18 years, traumatic brain injury, brain diseases, liver diseases, severe renal dysfunction, alcoholism (due to the presence of ethanol in the composition).

Use with caution in patients with mild to moderate renal impairment. People with chronic diseases should always consult a doctor before using the drug.

Side effects

Interaction

Currently, there are no data on the interaction of the drug Atheroclefit® when it is co-administered with other drugs, in particular, with lipid-lowering drugs.

Overdose

When using the drug in doses exceeding the recommended ones, there may be increased dose-dependent side effects, signs of alcohol intoxication (dizziness, nausea, vomiting). Treatment is symptomatic.

During therapy with Atheroclefit®, monitoring of the activity of “hepatic” transaminases, creatine phosphokinase, and monitoring of renal function is necessary.

For this purpose, it is recommended to visit a doctor at least once a month during the period of taking the drug Atheroclefit® in order to correct therapy if necessary. The frequency and timing of visits are determined by the attending physician.

The ethanol content in the preparation is not less than 35%. A single dose of the drug (1 teaspoon) contains 1.58 g of absolute ethyl alcohol, the maximum daily dose (3 teaspoons) contains 4.74 g of absolute ethyl alcohol.

Do not exceed the indicated daily dose.

Women of childbearing age should use reliable methods of contraception when using the drug.

Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and mechanisms

During treatment with Atheroclefit®, it is necessary to refrain from driving vehicles and engaging in other potentially dangerous activities that require increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.
