PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Pharmacodynamics :
Aurobin® is a combination drug for the treatment of inflammatory diseases of the anogenital region.
Prednisolone capronate is a non-halogenated glucocorticosteroid. It has a local anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory effect. The drug reduces the permeability of blood vessels, increases the tone of the walls of blood vessels, reduces the symptoms of inflammation.
Lidocaine is a local anesthetic that quickly eliminates pain and burning sensation.
Dexpanthenol-promotes regeneration of the affected epithelium and mucosa.
Triclosan is a broad-spectrum antiseptic that acts on bacteria and fungi.
Processes associated with inflammation of the perianal area, itching of the anus, eczema and dermatitis of the perianal area, cracks, hemorrhoids, fistula of the anus.
There are no data on the safety and efficacy of the drug during pregnancy, so it is not recommended to prescribe Aurobin in the first trimester of pregnancy.
In the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, if necessary, the use of the drug should be correlated with the expected benefit to the mother and the potential risk to the fetus.
Breast-feeding period: corticosteroids and lidocaine pass into the mother’s milk, so if it is necessary to use the drug during lactation, the question of stopping breastfeeding should be decided
The use of topical corticosteroids can cause primarily local side effects: deterioration of wound healing, burning sensation, itching, irritation, dryness, thinning of the skin, increased skin sensitivity. With prolonged use of glucocorticosteroids – skin atrophy, local hirsutism, telangiectasia, purpura, hypopigmentation, hypertrichosis, folliculitis, acne-like rashes, development of fungal infection, allergic contact dermatitis, diaper rash. When applied on large surfaces – systemic manifestations of side effects of a glucocorticoid (growth retardation, Itsenko-Cushing syndrome, benign increase in intracranial pressure after treatment, hyperglycemia, glucosuria, hypokalemia, increased blood pressure). With prolonged use and on a large surface, bradycardia may occur due to the systemic action of lidocaine.
When the drug is applied topically, no drug interactions are known.
Externally, rectally. Adults, elderly patients: The ointment is applied to the affected surface 2-4 times a day. For internal hemorrhoids, a small amount of ointment (the size of a pea) is injected into the rectum 2-4 times a day. If symptoms decrease, the drug can be used less frequently. The course of treatment is 5-7 days. Children under 12 months of age can not use the ointment. When using the drug in children, it should be avoided for a long time and on a large surface, regardless of age.
Acute overdose is unlikely, however, in the case of chronic overdose or improper use of the drug, symptoms may occur due to the systemic action of a glucocorticoid, as well as bradycardia with excessive use of the drug into the rectum (due to lidocaine), and treatment should be discontinued or the dose should be gradually reduced.
Long-term therapy should be avoided as much as possible, especially in children, because of possible suppression of adrenal function. The drug in children can be used with caution, in the minimum dose that ensures the achievement of a therapeutic effect. The duration of therapy in children should not exceed 5 days.
Avoid accidental contact with the drug in the eyes or on the periorbital area.
In case of contact, rinse thoroughly with water.
The development or spread of a secondary infection requires discontinuation of the Drug and the appointment of antimicrobial or antifungal therapy. Bacterial infection is maintained in warm, moist conditions, so the skin should be cleaned before each application of the ointment.
Application to a large surface area or prolonged use can lead to systemic absorption of active ingredients. Prolonged use of the drug in one area may cause skin atrophy, especially in young individuals.
Effect of the drug on the ability to drive a car and work mechanisms
There is no data on the effect of Aurobin® on the ability to drive vehicles or work in conditions of increased attention.
