One capsule of the drug contains at least 5×107 live bifidobacteria. excipients-lactose or lactulose-17.5%. Capsule shell composition: body-titanium dioxide 2%, gelatin (forming) up to 100%; lid-gelatin (forming) up to 100%. indigo carmine – 0.13.33%.
Indications
For diseases of the gastrointestinal tract:
- for the treatment of long-term intestinal dysfunctions of unknown etiology;
- for acute intestinal infections (in the complex treatment of acute dysentery, salmonellosis, escherichia coli. viral diarrheas, etc. ). prolonged intestinal dysfunction caused by staphylococci, as well as the treatment of patients after acute intestinal infections in the ongoing dysfunction of the intestine;

Clinically significant interaction of the drug with other drugs has not been established. Bifidumbacterin can be used simultaneously with antibacterial, antiviral and immunomodulatory therapy. How to take, course of use and dosage
1. Treatment and prevention of gastrointestinal diseases.
The drug “Bifidumbacterin capsules” is used by mouth by swallowing whole capsules with a sufficient amount of liquid at room temperature or by taking inside the suspension obtained by dissolving the contents of the opened capsule in a small amount of chilled boiled water. When dissolved in water, it forms an opaque suspension that has a specific sour-milk smell and taste. It is unacceptable to dissolve the drug with hot water and store it in a dissolved form.
Children under three years of age are not recommended to give whole capsules to avoid getting them into the respiratory tract – it is necessary to use the drug in the form of a solution.
The drug is taken 20-30 minutes before a meal or 1-1.5 hours after
a meal.

In acute intestinal diseases, children of the first year of life are prescribed 5 doses (the contents of one capsule) 2 times a day. Children older than 1 year – 5 doses (contents of one capsule) 3 times a day.
For sepsis, pneumonia and other purulent-septic diseases, children are prescribed 5 doses 3 times a day in combination with generally accepted methods of treating the underlying disease. If this group of children develops disorders of the
gastrointestinal tract and the threat of ulcerative-necrotic enterocolitis, the dosage of bifidumbacterin is increased to 20 doses per day.
It is advisable for newborns of the “risk” group to start using the drug in the maternity ward from the first day of life until discharge at 2.5 doses per reception 2 times a day. The contents of 1 capsule are dissolved in a small amount of boiled water or milk.
Method of dissolution. Â In a clean bowl, pour out the contents of one capsule (carefully separating the capsule lid from the capsule body) and add chilled boiled water. 1 teaspoon per dose of the drug is mixed until a homogeneous suspension of whitish-gray or different shades of beige color is obtained. One teaspoon of the solution prepared in this way is one dose.
Attention! To prepare a solution of the drug, especially for young children, only clean dishes should be used. The solution of the drug is not subject to storage.
Children over 3 years of age and adults with acute and chronic inflammatory diseases of the small and large intestines (enterocolitis and colitis) are recommended to take 1 capsule (5 doses) 2-3 times a day. In severe cases, the dose may be doubled.
The duration of treatment with bifidumbacterin capsules is determined by the severity of clinical manifestations, the age of the patient and is 2-4 weeks, and in some cases-up to 3 months.
For preventive purposes, the drug is prescribed 1 capsule (5 doses) 1-2 times a day for 1-2 weeks.
2. In obstetric and gynecological practice, the drug is used topically in the form of a solution of the capsule contents. To treat the area of the nipple and areola in puerperas, the contents of 1 capsule are dissolved in a small amount of boiled water, soaked in a solution of 2 sterile swabs, which are applied to the nipple and areola 20-30 minutes before feeding for 5 days. A tampon soaked in the preparation is left on the surface of the breast until feeding begins.
In case of inflammatory diseases of the female genitals and prenatal preparation of pregnant women of the “risk” group, the drug in the form of a solution for soaking a tampon or douching is prescribed for 5-10 doses (contents of 1-2 capsules) 1 time a day for 5-8 days under the control of restoring the purity of vaginal secretions to 1-11 degrees and the disappearance of clinical symptoms of the disease.
For intravaginal use, bifidumbacterin is also dissolved in this way. The resulting suspension of the drug is soaked in a sterile swab, which is administered intravaginally and left for 2-3 hours.
If necessary, the course of treatment with bifidumbacterin can be repeated.
Special instructions
The drug does not affect the performance of activities that require special attention and rapid reactions (driving vehicles, machinery, etc. ). The drug contains lactose – should be carefully pumped to people with lactase deficiency.
