Side effects
In rare cases, hypersensitivity to the drug, irritation at the injection site, allergic skin reactions, and angioedema develop.
Interaction
The drug causes hyperemia of the skin and reflexively increases blood circulation in the subcutaneous tissue, so the combined use with other drugs of local action can lead to increased absorption.
The use of large amounts may increase the toxicity of methotrexate and reduce the therapeutic effect of hypoglycemic agents.
The drug should not be used with oral anticoagulants.
How to take, course of use and dosage
Externally. The required amount of ointment (2-4 g, which corresponds to the volume of a large cherry) is rubbed into painful areas of the skin. If necessary, the procedure is repeated after a few hours (up to 3 times a day). Duration of the course (without consulting a doctor) – up to 10 days.
Overdose
Overdose of menthol and methyl salicylate was observed in some cases, mainly in children, with accidental ingestion of drugs containing these substances.
Symptoms: agitation, increased breathing depth, hyperpyrexia, nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting, and symptoms of CNS depression such as dizziness, unsteady gait, flushing, drowsiness, respiratory depression, and coma.
Treatment: symptomatic and supportive; correction of electrolyte and water balance, use of adsorbents and saline laxatives, forced diuresis, external cooling of the body; in severe cases-blood transfusion, hemodialysis.
Overdose of Bom-Benge ointment when applied topically is rare and only occurs when the drug is used improperly (applied to mucous membranes, large areas of damaged or infected skin).
