Composition

100 g of elixir contains:

Active ingredients:

• thyme herb extract, liquid-5.0 g;
• primrose root extract, liquid-2.5 g

Auxiliary components:

• sodium benzoate
• sugar syrup special*
• purified water.

* – a mixture of sucrose, dextrose (glucose) and fructose.

Pharmacological action

The drug has an expectorant, anti-inflammatory, bronchodilator, antimicrobial effect, helps to reduce the viscosity of sputum and accelerate its evacuation.

Indications

As an expectorant in the complex therapy of inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract (bronchitis, tracheitis, etc. ), accompanied by a cough with difficult-to-separate sputum.

Contraindications

• Increased individual sensitivity to the components of the drug;
• congenital intolerance to fructose;
• glucose-fructose malabsorption;
• the deficiency of the enzyme sucrase and isomaltase;
• chronic heart failure (decompensation);
• severe liver dysfunction;
• severe renal dysfunction;
• children’s age (1 year);
• alcoholism (in connection with the content of the preparation of ethyl alcohol );
• pregnancy and lactation.

Patients with: liver diseases; brain diseases and injuries; epilepsy should take the syrup with caution and only after consulting a doctor.

Side effects

Allergic reactions:  skin rash;

urticaria;

angioedema of the face and mucous membrane of the mouth and pharynx (Quincke’s edema).

In this case, you should stop taking the drug and consult a doctor.

Interaction

Simultaneous use with antitussive medications, as well as with medications that reduce the formation of sputum, is not recommended, as this makes it difficult to cough up liquefied sputum.

How to take, course of use and dosage

Adults — 1 teaspoon inside every 2-3 hours (up to 6 times a day).

Young children — 0.5-1 teaspoon 2-3 times a day.

If the patient’s condition does not improve, or if there are attacks of suffocation, purulent sputum, or if the temperature rises, you should immediately consult a doctor. Elixir Bronchicum Sontains 5.46 volume% of ethyl alcohol.
