Water for injection

Pharmacological action

Solvent. In the human body, water is necessary for constant metabolic processes. Under normal conditions, water is excreted in the urine, feces, sweat, and breath. Loss of fluid with sweat, during breathing and with feces occurs regardless of the introduction of fluid. Maintaining adequate hydration requires 30-45 ml/kg/day of water in adults,45-100 ml/kg in children, and 100-165 ml/kg in infants. Water for injection is used for the preparation of infusion and injection solutions, providing optimal conditions for the compatibility and effectiveness of substrates and water.

Indications

As a carrier or diluting solution for the preparation of sterile infusion (injection) solutions from powders, lyophilizates and concentrates. It is used for the preparation of sterile solutions intended for subcutaneous, intramuscular or intravenous use immediately before use.

Contraindications

If a different solvent is specified for the preparation of the drug solution.

Interaction

When mixed with other medicinal products (infusion solutions, concentrates for infusion preparation; injectable solutions, powders, dry substances for injection preparation), visual compatibility monitoring is necessary (pharmaceutical incompatibilities may occur).

How to take, course of use and dosage

The dose and rate of use should be consistent with the dosage instructions for dilute medicinal products.

Preparation of drug solutions using water for injection should be carried out under sterile conditions (opening ampoules, filling the syringe and containers with medicines).

Storage conditions

Store the drug in a dry place protected from light at a temperature not exceeding 25°C.
