Composition
Active ingredients:
metamizole sodium 500 mg,
pitofenone hydrochloride 2 mg and
fenpiverinium bromide 20 mcg
Pharmacological action
Spasmalgon is a combined spasmoanalgesic.
Metamizole sodium is a pyrazolone derivative. It has analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effects, the mechanism of which is associated with inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.
Pitofenone hydrochloride is a myotropic antispasmodic that has a direct effect on the smooth muscles of internal organs and causes its relaxation.
Fenpiverinium bromide, being an m-holinoblokator, has an additional relaxing effect on smooth muscles.
The combination of the three components of the drug leads to a mutual strengthening of their pharmacological action.
Indications
- pain of various origins
- spasms of internal organs (renal colic, biliary colic)
- postoperative pain. spasms of the brain vessels.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Contraindicated in pregnancy.
Breast-feeding should be discontinued for the duration of treatment.
Contraindications
- agranulocytosis
- ischemic heart
- disease glaucoma
- prostate adenoma
- severe hepatic-renal insufficiency
- hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
Side effects
- a decrease in the number of white blood cells in the blood
- a drop in blood pressure
- impaired renal function
- allergic reactions.
Interaction
Simultaneous use Spasmalgon with other non-narcotic analgesics can lead to a mutual increase in toxic effects.
Sedatives and tranquilizers enhance the analgesic effect of metamizole sodium.
Tricyclic antidepressants, oral contraceptives, and allopurinol disrupt the metabolism of metamizole in the liver and increase its toxicity.
Barbiturates, phenylbutazone, and other inducers of microsomal liver enzymes weaken the effect of metamizole sodium.
Radiopaque drugs, colloidal blood substitutes and penicillin should not be used during treatment with drugs containing metamizole sodium.
Concomitant use with cyclosporine reduces the level of the latter in the blood.
Metamizole sodium, replacing oral hypoglycemic drugs, indirect anticoagulants, glucocorticoids and Indometacin from plasma protein binding, may increase the severity of their action.
When combined with H1-histamine receptor blockers, butyrophenones, phenothiazines, tricyclic antidepressants, amantadine and quinidine, the m-holinoblocking effect may be enhanced.
Enhances the effects of ethanol.
Concomitant use with chlorpromazine or other phenothiazine derivatives may lead to severe hyperthermia.
Thiamazole and cytostatics increase the risk of leukopenia. The effect is enhanced by codeine, H2-histamine receptor blockers and propranolol (slows down the inactivation of metamizole sodium).
If you need to simultaneously use the above and other medications, you should consult your doctor.
How to take, course of use and dosage
For adults, the drug is administered intravenously in 2-5 ml of a solution for 2-3 days.
The duration of treatment is determined depending on the clinical symptoms and etiopathogenesis of the disease, but should not exceed 5 days.
The maximum daily dose should not exceed 10 ml (respectively 5 g of metamizole sodium).
In the absence of a therapeutic effect, the use of the drug should be discontinued, if the effect is good or satisfactory, it should be switched to oral or rectal use.
Before injecting the injection solution, it should be warmed in your hands.
Overdose
Symptoms: Â vomiting, dry mouth, decreased sweating, poor accommodation, decreased blood pressure, drowsiness, confusion, impaired liver and kidney function, convulsions.
Treatment: Â gastric lavage, use of activated charcoal, symptomatic therapy.
Special instructions
In patients with bronchial asthma, taking the drug can provoke the development of an attack.
When using the drug, it is necessary to monitor the picture of peripheral blood (white blood cell count) and the functional state of the liver.
If agranulocytosis is suspected or if thrombocytopenia is present, the drug should be discontinued.
During treatment with the drug, you can not take alcohol.
Effect of the drug on the ability to drive vehicles and other mechanisms that require increased concentration of attention
During treatment, it is not recommended to drive vehicles or engage in potentially dangerous activities that require rapid physical and mental response.
