Pharmacological action

The effect of Calcex is determined by its components.

Methenamine calcium chloride decahydrate belongs to the class of antiseptics and disinfectants, to the group of aldehydes.

Its action is based on the ability of the drug to decompose in an acidic environment with the formation of formaldehyde, which in this case has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties.

The complex salt of methenamine is present to compensate for the deficiency of calcium ions, to reduce the permeability of the vascular wall.

Indications

Calcex should be taken by adults with the initial symptoms of a cold. Symptomatic treatment of acute respiratory diseases and “colds” (as part of complex therapy).

Overdose

Symptoms: acute irritation of the conjunctiva and mucous membranes of the respiratory tract, dyspeptic disorders (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea), glomerulonephritis.

Treatment: it is recommended to take thioctic acid, folic acid, ascorbic acid, pyridoxine and nicotinic acid preparations.
