Composition
1 ampoule (10 ml) contains 1 g of calcium chloride
Pharmacological action
Calcium is a macronutrient involved in the formation of bone tissue, the process of blood clotting, it is necessary to maintain stable heart activity, the transmission of nerve impulses. Improves muscle contraction in muscular dystrophy, myasthenia gravis, reduces vascular permeability.
When administered intravenously, calcium excites the sympathetic nervous system and increases the release of adrenaline by the adrenal glands; it has a moderate diuretic effect.
When a calcium chloride solution interacts with magnesium salts, oxalic and fluoric acids, insoluble compounds are formed, which makes it possible to use a calcium chloride solution as an antidote.
Indications
- Bleedings various etiology and localization (pulmonary, gastrointestinal, nasal, uterine, etc. );
- allergic disease (serum sickness, kapelnitsa, feverish syndrome, itching, angioedema);
- dystrophic nutritional edema, spasmophilia;
- hypoparathyroidism,
- hypocalcemia,
- increased permeability of blood vessels (hemorrhagic vasculitis, radiation sickness),
- weakness of labor activity,
- poisoning with salts of magnesium, fluoride and oxalic acids: paroxysmal mioplegii (gipercalziemicescoy form).
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity,
- hypercalcemia,
- atherosclerosis,
- tendency to thrombosis.
Side effects
With intravenous use – a feeling of heat, hyperemia of the skin of the face, bradycardia, with rapid use-ventricular fibrillation of the heart. Local reactions (with intravenous use) – pain and hyperemia along the vein.
Interaction
When combined with thiazide diuretics, it may increase hypercalcemia, reduce the effect of calcitonin in hypercalcemia, and reduce the bioavailability of phenytoin.
How to take, course of use and dosage
Intravenously slowly (6-8 drops / min),5-15 ml of 10% solution, diluting before use in 100-200 ml of 0.9% NaCl solution or 5% dextrose solution.
Special instructions
It can not be administered subcutaneously or intramuscularly, tissue necrosis is possible (high concentrations of calcium chloride, starting from 5%, cause severe irritation of the vascular wall). With intravenous use of calcium chloride, a feeling of heat appears first in the oral cavity, and then throughout the body (previously used to determine the speed of blood flow – the time between the moment of its introduction into the vein and the appearance of a feeling of heat).
