Pharmacological action
Marigold flowers have antiseptic (disinfecting) and anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic effects.
Indications
Externally, the infusion of marigold flowers is used for rinsing as an anti-inflammatory and antiseptic agent for inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity (gingivitis, stomatitis, periodontitis).
Sometimes it is used internally as a choleretic agent.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the drug, acute gastritis, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum during the acute period.
When used inside – children under 12 years of age.
Side effects
Possible allergic reactions.
When ingested, there may be a feeling of bitterness in the mouth, a burning sensation in the epigastric region, abdominal pain.
How to take, course of use and dosage
2 filter bags (3 g) are placed in a glass or enamel dish, pour 100 ml (1/2 cup) of boiling water, cover and insist for 30 minutes, periodically pressing on the bags with a spoon, then squeeze them out.
The volume of the resulting infusion is brought with boiled water to 100 ml.
For rinsing the mouth and throat, apply 1/2-1 cup of infusion 3-5 times a day in a warm form.
Inside, take 1-2 tablespoons 2-3 times a day before meals.
It is recommended to shake the infusion before use.
Storage conditions
In a dark place, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C.
