Pharmacological action
Cefurus has a broad-spectrum antibacterial effect, bactericidal.
Indications
Pneumonia, pleurisy, lung abscess, bacterial meningitis, infections of the genitourinary system, biliary tract, ENT organs, peritonitis, sepsis, infections of bones and joints, skin and soft tissues, wound infections, gonorrhea, syphilis, severe intestinal infections, dysentery, salmonellosis, bacterial endocarditis, Lyme disease.
Prevention of postoperative complications in surgery, urology, obstetrics and gynecology, ENT practice.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity (including to other cephalosporins, penicillins and carbapenems).
With caution, Cefurus should be prescribed to newborns (including premature babies), with chronic renal failure, bleeding and gastrointestinal diseases (including in the anamnesis, ulcerative colitis), weakened and emaciated patients, during pregnancy, lactation (breastfeeding).
Side effects
Allergic reactions: chills, rash, pruritus, urticaria; rarely-erythema multiforme, bronchospasm, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, anaphylactic shock.
From the digestive system: diarrhea, nausea, vomiting or constipation, flatulence, abdominal cramps and pain, ulceration of the oral mucosa, oral candidiasis, glossitis, pseudomembranous enterocolitis, liver dysfunction (increased AST, ALT, ALP, LDH, bilirubin levels), cholestasis.
From the genitourinary system: impaired renal function (decreased creatinine clearance, increased creatinine and residual urea nitrogen in the blood), dysuria, itching in the perineum, vaginitis.
Hematopoietic disorders: decreased hemoglobin and hematocrit, anemia (aplastic or hemolytic), eosinophilia, neutropenia, leukopenia, agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia, hypoprothrombinemia, prolongation of prothrombin time.
Local reactions: irritation, infiltration and pain at the injection site, phlebitis.
How to take, course of use and dosage
of Cefurus are prescribed in / m, in / in (jet or drip).
IV and iv adults are prescribed 750 mg 3 times/day; for severe infections, the dose is increased to 1.5 g 3-4 times/day (if necessary, the interval between injections can be reduced to 6 hours). The average daily dose of Cefurus is 3-6 g.
Children older than 3 months are prescribed 30-100 mg / kg / day in 3-4 injections. For most infections, the optimal dose of Cefurus is 60 mg / kg / day.
Newborns and children under 3 months are prescribed 30 mg / kg / day in 2-3 injections.
