Active ingredient:
chlorhexidine digluconate solution 20% (0.04 g), which corresponds to the chlorhexidine digluconate – 8 mg.
Pharmacological effect
of Pharmaco-therapeutic group: Antiseptic crestfallenly bastiaensen – antiseptic drug for local (intravaginal) applications, active against protozoa, gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, viruses, including against Treponema pallidum, Chlamydia spp., Ureaplasma spp. Gononhoeae Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Trichomonas vaginalis, Gardnerella vaginalis, Bacteroides fragilis, Herpes simplex type 2. Some strains of Pseudomonas spp., Proteus spp. are weakly sensitive to the drug, as well as acid-resistant forms of bacteria, bacterial spores. Chlorhexidine does not interfere with the functional activity of lactobacilli. Pharmacokineticsystemic absorption with intravaginal use is insignificant.
Indications
- prevention of sexually transmitted infections (chlamydia, ureaplasmosis, trichomoniasis, gonorrhea, syphilis, genital herpes, and others);
- prevention of infectious-inflammatory complications in obstetrics and gynecology (before surgical treatment of gynecological diseases before birth and abortion, before and after the installation of the intrauterine device (IUD), before and after diathermocoagulation of the cervix, prior to intrauterine studies);
- bacterial vaginosis treatment of obesity (including nonspecific, mixed, Trichomonas).
Use during pregnancy and lactation
The use of the drug during pregnancy and lactation is possible if the intended benefit to the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus and child.
Contraindications

- hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Side effects
Very rarely (in less than 0.1% of cases) allergic reactions, itching of the skin, which pass after discontinuation of the drug, are possible.
Interaction
Concomitant use with iodine-containing drugs is not recommended if they are used intravaginally.
Chlorhexidine is not compatible with detergents containing the anionic group (saponins, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium carboxymethylcellulose) and soaps, if they are administered intravaginally. The use of external genitalia does not affect the effectiveness and tolerability of vaginal suppositories Chlorhexidine, because the drug is used intravaginally.
How to take, course of use and dosage
Intravaginally. After releasing the suppository from the contour cell package, it is inserted into the vagina in the supine position.
For treatment : 1 suppository 2 times / day for 7-10 days. If necessary, it is possible to extend the course of treatment up to 20 days.
For the prevention of sexually transmitted infections: Â 1 suppository no later than 2 hours after sexual intercourse.
Special instructions
Chlorhexidine remains active (although somewhat reduced) in the presence of blood and pus.
