Composition

1 tablet contains:

Active ingredients:

dry water extract of fresh artichoke leaves 200 mg.

Auxiliary substances:

magnesium trisilicate – 12 mg,

corn starch-22 mg,

talc-3 mg,

magnesium stearate-3 mg.

Shell composition:

gummies – 1,152 mg, resin – 1,152 mg, talc – 16,3 mg, gelatin – 0,384 mg, sucrose – 86,146 mg, calcium carbonate – 2.2 mg, dye disperse (sucrose, iron oxides yellow, black and brown (E 172), methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 218), metilparagidroksibenzoat (E 214)) – 2.58 mg Carnauba wax – 0,082 mg, Polysorbate 80 – 0,004 mg.

Pharmacological action

The pharmacological effect of the drug is due to the complex of biologically active substances included in the composition of artichoke leaves.

Pharmacodynamics

Cinarin in combination with phenolic acids has a choleretic and hepatoprotective effect. The ascorbic acid, carotene, vitamins B 1 and B 2, and inulin contained in artichoke contribute to the normalization of metabolic processes.

It also has a diuretic effect and increases the excretion of urea.

Pharmacokinetics

The effect of the drug Hofitol is the combined effect of its components, so it is not possible to conduct kinetic observations; all components together cannot be traced using markers or bioassays. For the same reason, it is impossible to detect the metabolites of the drug.

Indications

Hofitol is used in adults and children as part of complex therapy for:

• biliary dyskinesia by hypokinetic type;
• chronic non-calculous cholecystitis;
• chronic hepatitis;
• cirrhosis of the liver;
• chronic nephritis;
• chronic renal failure.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

The use of Hofitol during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding) is possible only under the supervision of a doctor.

Contraindicated in children under 6 years of age.

Contraindications

Contraindication to the use of Hofitol is:

• Cholelithiasis;
• obstruction of the biliary tract;
• acute diseases of the liver, kidneys, bile and urinary tract;
