Pharmacological action
An antibiotic of the lincosamide group for vaginal use.
The mechanism of action of the drug is associated with a violation of intracellular protein synthesis in the microbial cell at the level of the 50S ribosomal subunit.
Clindamycin has a broad spectrum of action, has a bacteriostatic effect, in higher concentrations against some microorganisms – bactericidal.
Active against microorganisms that cause bacterial vaginosis: Gardnerella vaginalis, Mobiluncus spp., Bacteroides spp., Mycoplasma hominis, Peptostreptococcus spp. Trichomonas vaginalis and Candida albicans are not sensitive to clindamycin.
Indications
Bacterial vaginosis caused by drug-sensitive microorganisms.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to clindamycin or lincomycin.
Side effects
Possible development of allergic reactions, irritation at the injection site, cervicitis, vaginitis, vulvovaginal candidiasis.
Interaction
An antagonistic interaction was observed between clindamycin and erythromycin. There is cross-resistance between clindamycin and lincomycin.
How to take, course of use and dosage
The recommended single dose is 100 mg of clindamycin (1 full applicator). The drug is administered intravaginally (using an applicator) 1 time / day before bedtime for 3-7 days.
Instructions for using the applicator Remove the cap from the cream tube and screw the plastic applicator onto the threaded neck of the tube.
Rolling the tube from the opposite end, squeeze the cream into the applicator. The applicator is full when its plunger reaches its stop. Then you need to unscrew the applicator from the tube and wrap the cap.
Lying on your back, you should horizontally insert the applicator into the vagina as far as possible, but so as not to cause unpleasant sensations. Slowly depressing the plunger until it stops, insert the cream into the vagina. Then carefully remove the applicator from the vagina and discard it.
Overdose
With intravaginal use of the drug, overdose has not been established.
Special instructions
With prolonged use of Clindacin, excessive growth of microorganisms that are insensitive to it, especially Candida fungi, is possible.
Given the possibility of minimal systemic absorption of the drug (approximately 4%), it is necessary to keep in mind the possibility of developing diarrhea during the use of Clindacin. In this case, the drug should be discontinued.
It is not recommended to use Clindacin simultaneously with other intravaginal agents.
Use in pediatrics The efficacy and safety of Clindacin in children have not been established.
