Composition

Eye gel 5% transparent or slightly opalescent, colorless, easily flowing.

cetrimide – 0.1 mg,

disodium edetate-0.1 mg,

carbomer-0.1 mg,

sodium hydroxide-1.01 mg,

Pharmacological action

 Corneal protector. The drug stimulates regeneration processes.

The active ingredient of Corneregel is dexpanthenol / panthenol-a precursor of pantothenic acid, which, thus, has all the same biological properties as D-pantothenic acid, which, having turned into coenzyme A in the human body, participates in many metabolic processes.

The data obtained in animal experiments indicate an increase in fibroblast proliferation and the presence of a regenerating effect. When applied externally, dexpanthenol is able to fill the increased need for pantothenic acid in damaged skin or mucous membrane.

The eye gel has a high viscosity, which makes it possible to achieve long-term contact of dexpanthenol with the surface of the eye mucosa.

Pharmacokinetics

 Based on the results of studying tritium-labeled dexpanthenol, its absorption through the skin was established. To increase the duration of contact of an aqueous solution of dexpanthenol with the corneal epithelium, Corneregel contains a carbomer, which, due to its high molecular weight, does not penetrate the eyeball tissue and is not absorbed into the systemic circulation.

Indications

• treatment keratopathy non-inflammatory nature, such as corneal dystrophy, recurrent erosions, lesions of the cornea with contact lens wear;
• as adjunctive therapy to stimulate the healing process of the cornea and conjunctiva with their trauma and burns (chemical and thermal);
• in an adjuvant in the treatment of infectious lesions of the cornea bacterial, viral or fungal origin.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Since there are no data on the concentration of dexpanthenol (pantothenic acid) in blood plasma after topical application in the form of an eye gel, the use of Corneregel during pregnancy and/or during breastfeeding is possible only after consulting a doctor, when the expected benefit to the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus and/or child.

Contraindications

Individual hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug.

Use the drug with caution during pregnancy and lactation (no clinical data available).

Side effects

Local reactions: itching, hyperemia, conjunctival edema, pain, foreign body sensation, increased lacrimation, transient” blurring ” of vision.

Allergic reactions: very rarely – hypersensitivity (itching, skin rashes).

Interaction

In cases where additional local therapy with eye drops/ointments is performed, the interval between the use of Corneregel and other ophthalmic drugs should be at least 15 minutes.

Due to its physical properties, the drug Corneregel can extend the residence time of other ophthalmic drugs in the eye and, thereby, enhance their effect. Therefore, the Root guard should be used last.

How to take, course of use and dosage

Apply topically.

In the lower conjunctival sac of the affected eye,1 drop is instilled 4 times a day, as well as 1 drop before bedtime.

Overdose

There are no data on overdose of Corneregel.

Special instructions

During treatment with the drug, it is not recommended to wear soft contact lenses. When using contact lenses, they should be removed before applying the gel and not installed earlier than 15 minutes after instillation of the drug.

The tube should be closed after each use, do not touch the tip of the tube to the eye.

Use in patients with impaired renal function. The drug is used with caution in patients with chronic renal failure.

Influence on the ability to drive motor vehicles and manage mechanisms

During treatment, the patient should refrain from engaging in potentially dangerous activities that require increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.
