A combined drug, the action of which is determined by the properties of its constituent substances.
It has a sedative and antispasmodic effect. Facilitates the onset of natural sleep.
- Ethyl ether of α-bromisovaleric acid has a sedative (similar to the effect of valerian) and antispasmodic effect.
- Phenobarbital enhances the sedative effect of other components, helps reduce the excitement of the central nervous system and facilitates the onset of sleep.
- Peppermint oil has a reflex vasodilating and antispasmodic effect.
Indications
As a sedative and vasodilator for the following diseases:
- functional disorders of the cardiovascular system (cardialgia, sinus tachycardia, increased blood pressure);
- insomnia (violation of falling asleep);

Side effects
- : drowsiness,
- dizziness.
Long-term use of high doses may lead to the development of chronic bromine poisoning, the manifestations of which are: depressive mood, apathy, rhinitis, conjunctivitis, hemorrhagic diathesis, impaired coordination.
Interaction
Drugs that depress the central nervous system, enhance the effect of the drug.
Phenobarbital (an inducer of microsomal oxidation) can reduce the effectiveness of drugs metabolized in the liver (including coumarin derivatives, griseofulvin, glucocorticosteroids, oral contraceptives); increases the effect of local anesthetics, analgesics and hypnotics. The drug increases the toxicity of methotrexate.
The effect of the drug is enhanced by the use of valproic acid preparations.
Weakens the effect of glucocorticosteroids and hormonal contraceptives.

Inside, before meals,15-30 drops, pre-dissolved in a small amount (30-50 ml) of water,2-3 times / day. A single dose, if necessary (for example, in case of tachycardia), can be increased to 40-50 drops.
Children – 3-15 drops/day. (depending on the age and clinical picture of the disease).
The duration of use of the drug is determined by the doctor individually.
Overdose
Symptoms: Â central nervous system depression, nystagmus, ataxia, decreased blood pressure, agitation, dizziness, weakness, chronic bromine intoxication (depression, apathy, rhinitis, conjunctivitis, hemorrhagic diathesis, impaired coordination of movements).
Treatment: Â discontinuation of the drug, gastric lavage and symptomatic therapy, with CNS depression – caffeine, niketamide.
Special instructions
The drug contains 79% by volume of ethanol and phenobarbital, so patients taking Corvalol are not recommended to engage in activities that involve increased attention and require rapid mental and motor reactions.
With prolonged use of the drug, drug dependence may form; bromine accumulation in the body and the development of poisoning with it is possible.
If you experience any side effects (unusual), you should inform your doctor about them.
During the use of the drug, do not drink alcohol.
