Pharmacological action
Sedative
Pharmacodynamics
A combined drug whose action is determined by the properties of its constituent substances. It has a sedative and antispasmodic effect, moderate cardiotonic effect (slows down the rhythm and increases the strength of heart contractions), has moderate hypotensive properties.
Ethylbromizovalerianate has a sedative and antispasmodic effect due to irritation, mainly of the oral and nasopharyngeal receptors, a decrease in reflex excitability in the central nervous system and increased inhibition in cortical neurons and subcortical structures of the brain, as well as a decrease in the activity of central vasomotor centers and a direct local antispasmodic effect on smooth muscles.
Motherwort herb has a pronounced sedative (calming), moderate cardiotonic (slows down the rhythm and increases the strength of heart contractions) effect, moderate hypotensive effect.
Peppermint oil has a reflex vasodilating, antispasmodic, mild choleretic, antiseptic effect. The mechanism of action is associated with the ability to irritate the “cold” receptors of the oral mucosa and reflexively expand mainly the vessels of the heart and brain. Eliminates the phenomena of flatulence due to irritation of the mucous membrane receptors of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT), increasing intestinal motility.
Pharmacokinetics
Data on the pharmacokinetics of ethylbromisovalerianate, motherwort, and peppermint components are not available.
Indications
Sleep disorders, neurosis-like conditions accompanied by increased irritability and excitability, states of arousal with pronounced vegetative manifestations;
As an antispasmodic agent – for intestinal spasms, as well as as a symptomatic (soothing and vasodilating) agent for functional disorders of the cardiovascular system.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
The safety of Corvalol Phyto during pregnancy has not been established and its use during this period is contraindicated. There are no data on the penetration of the components of the drug into breast milk, so if it is necessary to use it during lactation, the question of stopping breastfeeding should be decided.
Contraindications
-hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;Â
– severe renal and / or hepatic dysfunction–
– erosive and ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract (acute phase);
– pregnancy;
– breast-feeding period;
– children under 18 years of age (efficacy and safety have not been established).
With caution
-Impaired liver and/or kidney function;

Side effects
From the immune system: allergic reactions;
From the central nervous system: drowsiness, weakness, dizziness, decreased ability to concentrate;
From the cardiovascular system: slowing of the heart rate;
From the gastrointestinal tract: dyspepsia.
These symptoms disappear with a decrease in the dose of the drug or discontinuation of the drug. With prolonged use of high doses of the drug, drug dependence may develop, as well as bromine accumulation in the body and the development of bromism phenomena, the manifestations of which are: depressive mood, apathy, rhinitis, conjunctivitis, hemorrhagic diathesis, impaired coordination of movements.
Interaction
When the drug Corvalol Phyto is used simultaneously with drugs that inhibit the activity of the central nervous system (sedatives, sleeping pills, antipsychotics, tranquilizers), it is possible to mutually enhance the effects. Enhances the effect of antispasmodic, analgesic agents. Alcohol increases the effect of the drug and its toxicity.
How to take, course of use and dosage
For adults
Take orally, before meals,3 times a day for 30 drops, previously dissolved in a small amount (30-40 ml) of water.
The course of treatment is 4 weeks (28 days). The duration of admission may be extended on the recommendation of a doctor.
Overdose
Overdose is possible with frequent and prolonged use of the drug. If the recommended doses are exceeded, the dose-dependent side effects may increase.
Symptoms: weakness, drowsiness, dizziness. Chronic bromine intoxication may occur with prolonged use (See section Side effects).
Treatment: symptomatic.
Description
Transparent liquid of greenish-brown color with a characteristic smell. The presence of a suspension of small particles is allowed. Sediment formation is allowed during storage
Special instructions
There is no experience of using the drug in children under 18 years of age, during pregnancy and during breastfeeding. Long-term use of the drug in high doses is not recommended, due to the possible toxic effect of bromine accumulation in the body. During the use of the drug, do not drink alcohol.
