Composition

Composition per 100 g: Active ingredient: dexpanthenol – 5.00 g. Auxiliary substances: vaseline-27.00 g, liquid paraffin-10.00 g, lanolin-17.00 g, cholesterol-0.50 g, isopropyl myristate-3.00 g, methyl parahydroxybenzoate-0.07 g, propyl parahydroxybenzoate-0.03 g, water-37.40 g.

Pharmacological action

Dexpanthenol is a derivative of pantothenic acid. Pantothenic acid, a water-soluble B vitamin (vitamin B5), is a component of coenzyme A. It stimulates skin regeneration, normalizes cellular metabolism, accelerates mitosis, and increases the strength of collagen fibers. An increase in the need for pantothenic acid is observed when the skin or tissues are damaged, and its deficiency can be compensated for by topical application of dexpanthenol. Pharmacokinetics When applied topically, it is rapidly absorbed and converted to pantothenic acid, binds to plasma proteins (mainly beta-globulin and albumin). The concentration of pantothenic acid in the blood is 0.5-1 mg/l, in the blood plasma – 100 mcg/l. Pantothenic acid is not metabolized in the body and is excreted unchanged by the kidneys.

Indications

• Violation of the integrity of the skin caused by mechanical, chemical, thermal factors or after surgical interventions (various burns (including solar); scratches, abrasions, wounds; pressure sores; poorly healing skin grafts; aseptic surgical wounds);
• inflammatory processes on the skin; dermatitis; boils; trophic ulcers of the lower extremities; skin care around tracheostomy, gastrostomy and colostomy;
• treatment and prevention of consequences of adverse effects on the skin of environmental factors (cold, wind, moisture);
• in children, nappy rash, scratches and minor irritation after sun exposure, ultraviolet and x-ray radiation; treatment and prevention of diaper rash;
• cracked and sore nipples in nursing mothers;
• for the treatment and protection of dry skin as a source of neutral fats and dexpanthenol.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug.

With caution: cracked and inflamed nipples of the breast in nursing mothers.

Side effects

Allergic reactions, allergic skin reactions (for example, contact dermatitis, allergic dermatitis, itching, redness, eczema, rash, hives, skin irritation). If any of the side effects listed in the instructions get worse, or any other side effects that are not listed in the instructions are noted, you should immediately inform your doctor.

How to take, course of use and dosage

The ointment is applied 2-4 times / day (if necessary, more often). Apply a thin layer on the affected area of the skin, gently rubbing. If applied to an infected skin surface, it should be pre-treated with any antiseptic.

Nursing mothers should lubricate the surface of the nipple with ointment after each breast-feeding.
