Composition

Active ingredient:

doxylamine succinate 15 mg;

Auxiliary substances:

lactose monohydrate – 100 mg,

croscarmellose sodium-9 mg,

microcrystalline cellulose-15 mg, magnesium stearate-2 mg.

macrogol 6000 – 1 mg,

hypromellose-2.3 mg,

Sepispers AR 7001 (hypromellose-2-4%, titanium dioxide CI 77891-25-31%, propylene glycol-30-40%, water – up to 100%) – 0.7 mg

Pharmacological action

Blocker of histamine_H1-receptors from the group of ethanolamines. The drug has a hypnotic, sedative and m-holinoblokiruyushchy effect. Reduces the time of falling asleep, increases the duration and quality of sleep, but does not change the sleep phase. Duration of action – 6-8 hours.

Indications

Sleep disorders, insomnia.

Contraindications

• hypersensitivity to the drug.
• glaucoma;
• difficulty urinating due to benign prostatic hyperplasia;
• pregnancy;
• lactation;
• children and adolescents under 15 years of age.

Side effects

Side effects associated with the anticholinergic effect of the drug:  dry mouth, accommodation disorders, constipation, urinary retention.

Interaction

When taken concomitantly with antidepressants, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, clonidine, opioid analgesics, neuroleptics, tranquilizers, an increase in the depressive effect of Donormil on the central nervous system is observed.

When Donormil is co-administered with atropine or other atropine-like agents, imipramine, antiparkinsonian anticholinergic drugs, disopyramide, phenothiazine derivatives, the risk of anticholinergic side effects increases: dry mouth, constipation, urinary retention.

Ethanol enhances the sedative effect of Donormil.

How to take, course of use and dosage

Patients over the age of 15 years are prescribed 1/2-1 tablet 15-30 minutes before bedtime. The duration of treatment is up to 2 weeks.

Before taking, the effervescent tablet is dissolved in 1/2 cup of water; the coated tablet is washed down with water.

Overdose

Symptoms:  drowsiness, agitation, mydriasis, paralysis of accommodation, hyperemia of the face and neck, hyperthermia, dry mouth, convulsions, sinus tachycardia. The phase of agitation and convulsions may be preceded by a state of depression.

Treatment:  if necessary, conduct symptomatic therapy. According to indications, anticonvulsants and mechanical ventilation are used.

Special instructions

Patients who are shown a diet with a restriction of table salt should take into account that each effervescent tablet contains 484 mg of sodium.

Alcohol should be avoided while taking Donormil. The patient should be informed that when waking up in the middle of the night after taking the drug, lethargy or dizziness may occur.

Influence on the ability to drive motor vehicles and manage mechanismsit is recommended to prescribe the drug with caution to patients engaged in potentially dangerous activities that require increased attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.
