Composition
1 capsule contains: Active ingredient: Freeze-dried Saccharomyces boulardii 250 mg. Auxiliary substances: Lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, gelatin, titanium dioxide.
Pharmacological action
Pharmacotherapeutic group. An antidiarrheal agent. ATX code: [A07FA02]Pharmacological properties. Saccharomyces boulardii has an antimicrobial effect due to its antagonistic effect against pathogenic and conditionally pathogenic microorganisms: Clostridium difficile, Candida albicans, Candida kruesei, Candida pseudotropicalis, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhimurium, Yersinia enterocolitica, Escherichia coli, Shigella dysenteriae, Staphylococcus aureus and others, as well as Entamoeba histolitica and Lambliae. Saccharomyces boulardii has an antitoxin effect against bacterial cyto-and enterotoxins, increases the enzymatic function of the intestine. Saccharomyces boulardii is naturally resistant to antibiotics. After taking the drug, Saccharomyces boulardii passes through the digestive tract unchanged without colonization. The drug is completely eliminated from the body within 2-5 days after discontinuation of use.
Indications
- Dysbiosis (treatment and prevention),
- recurrent colitis
- caused by Clostridium difficile,
- colitis and diarrhea caused by taking antibiotics (treatment and prevention),
- irritable bowel syndrome,
- prevention of diarrhea with prolonged enteral feeding through a probe.
Contraindications
1. Hypersensitivity to one of the components; 2. The presence of a central venous catheter, as rare cases of fungemia have been described in patients with a central venous catheter in hospital settings.
Side effects
In rare cases, individual sensitivity to the components of the drug may occur.
Interaction
Enterol® do not take together with antifungal drugs.
How to take, course of use and dosage
Children from 1 year to 3 years – 1 capsule twice a day for 5 days. Children from 3 years and adults – 1-2 capsules twice a day for 7-10 days. Enterol® should be taken 1 hour before meals, with a small amount of liquid. Do not drink hot or alcoholic beverages. For young children, as well as in cases of difficulty swallowing, the capsule can be opened and given its contents or slightly warm liquid. Taking the drug for the treatment of acute diarrhea must necessarily be accompanied by rehydration.
Special instructions
If after two days of using Enterol ® for the treatment of acute diarrhea, there is no improvement, as well as if the temperature rises, blood or mucus is found in the feces, you should immediately consult your doctor. A feeling of thirst and dry mouth indicate insufficient rehydration.
