Pharmacological action

A combined drug, the action of which is due to the components that make up its composition. Enzistal® has a protective shell that does not dissolve before entering the small intestine, which protects enzymes from the destructive effects of gastric juice.

Enzistal ® promotes rapid and complete digestion of food, relieves symptoms that occur due to digestive disorders (feeling of heaviness and fullness of the stomach, flatulence, shortness of breath due to the accumulation of gases in the intestines, diarrhea). The enzymes that make up pancreatin – amylase, lipase and protease-facilitate the digestion of carbohydrates, fats and proteins, which contributes to their more complete absorption in the small intestine.

Hemicellulase is an enzyme that promotes the breakdown of plant fiber, which also improves digestive processes, reduces the formation of gases in the intestines. Bile extract acts as a choleretic agent, promotes fat emulsification, increases lipase activity, improves the absorption of fats and fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K.

Indications

• Insufficiency of external secretory function of the pancreas in cystic fibrosis, chronic pancreatitis; 
• after pancreatectomy;
• when the pancreatic duct is compressed by a tumor;
• steatorrhea in malabsorption syndrome;
• conditions after gastroectomy, dyspepsia in case of nutritional errors;
• in chronic diseases of the digestive system (especially in the elderly) and in patients who are on long-term bed rest, preparation for X-ray and ultrasound examination of the abdominal cavity.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, acute pancreatitis, exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis, liver failure, hepatitis, mechanical jaundice, cholelithiasis, empyema of the gallbladder, intestinal obstruction, children under 6 years of age, cholelithiasis. With caution: cystic fibrosis.

Side effects

Allergic reactions, nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, decreased endogenous bile acid synthesis. With prolonged use in high doses, hyperuricosuria may develop, and the level of uric acid in the blood plasma may increase. In children, when using high doses, perianal irritation and irritation of the oral mucosa may develop.

Interaction

of Cimetidine and antacids enhances the effect. Reduces the bioavailability of iron supplements.

How to take, course of use and dosage

Inside, without chewing, during or immediately after a meal, with a small amount of liquid.

Adults-1-2 tablets 3 times a day. Higher doses are prescribed by your doctor. Children over 6 years of age (as prescribed by a doctor) – 1 tablet 2-3 times a day.

The duration of treatment can vary from several days (if the digestive process is disrupted due to dietary errors) to several months or years (if permanent replacement therapy is required).

Before X-ray examination or ultrasound — 2 tablets 2-3 times a day for 2-3 days before the study.
