Ersefuril is an intestinal antiseptic, an antidiarrheal drug. Like other nitrofurans, it blocks some redox enzyme reactions in microbial cells. When used in therapeutic doses, it has a bacteriostatic effect, in high doses – bactericidal. It is active against gram-positive (Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Clostridium) and Gram-negative (Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Shigella, Klebsiela, Enterobacter, Vibrio cholerae, etc. ) microorganisms.
It does not affect saprophytic flora (it does not cause dysbiosis). Bacterial strains do not develop resistance to the drug.
Acute bacterial diarrhea.
The use of the drug during pregnancy is possible only if the intended benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.
It can be prescribed to nursing women.
Hypersensitivity (including to other nitrofuran derivatives); children under 6 years of age.
Allergic reactions such as skin rashes, urticaria, angioedema, or anaphylactic shock are extremely rare.
Taking ethanol may cause hypersensitivity symptoms.
It is not recommended to take the drug in combination with drugs that lead to reactions such as withdrawal syndrome or antidepressants.

Rehydration should be performed if necessary.
The volume of fluid administered and the method of its use (inside, in/in) should correspond to the severity of diarrhea, age and clinical condition of the patient.
In the case of infectious diarrhea with clinical symptoms that indicate an invasive phenomenon, systematic antibacterial therapy is necessary.
Due to the presence of sucrose in the preparation, it should not be prescribed for fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome or sucrose-isomaltase deficiency.
