Pharmacodynamics

The combination of hesperidin + diosmin has venotonizing and angioprotective properties. Reduces the extensibility of the veins and venous congestion, in the microcirculation – reduces the permeability of capillaries and increases their resistance, improves the indicators of venous hemodynamics. It affects the following venous plethysmographic parameters: venous capacity, venous extensibility, and venous emptying time. The optimal effect is achieved when taking 2 tablets per day.

The combination of hesperidin + diosmin increases venous tone by reducing the time of venous emptying. In patients with signs of severe microcirculation disorders after the use of the combination hesperidin + diosmin, an increase in capillary resistance is noted.

The combination of hesperidin + diosmin is effective in the treatment of chronic diseases of the veins of the lower extremities, as well as in the treatment of hemorrhoids.

Pharmacokinetics

The drug Flebaven® is mainly excreted through the intestine. On average, about 14% of the drug dose is excreted by the kidneys.

The elimination half-life is 11 hours.

The drug undergoes an active metabolism, which is confirmed by the presence of phenolic acids in the urine.

Indications

Flebaven® is indicated for the treatment of symptoms of chronic venous diseases (elimination and relief of symptoms).

Treatment of symptoms of venous-lymphatic insufficiency:

• pain;
• cramps of the lower extremities;
• feeling of heaviness and bursting in the legs;
• ” fatigue ” of the legs.

Treatment of venous-lymphatic insufficiency manifestations:

• edema of the lower extremities;
• trophic changes in the skin and subcutaneous tissue;
• venous trophic ulcers.

Symptomatic treatment of acute and chronic hemorrhoids.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Pregnancy

Animal experiments did not reveal any teratogenic effects.

To date, there have been no reports of adverse effects when using the drug in pregnant women.

Breast-feeding period

Due to the lack of data on the elimination of the drug in breast milk, women during breastfeeding are not recommended to take the drug.

Effect on reproductive function

Reproductive toxicity studies have shown no effect on reproductive function in rats of both sexes.

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to active or auxiliary substances that make up the drug.
• It is not recommended to take the drug during breastfeeding.

Side effects

Side effects of the hesperidin + diosmin combination observed in clinical trials were mild. Gastrointestinal disorders (diarrhea, dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting) were mainly observed.

How to take, course of use and dosage

Inside.

The recommended dose for venous-lymphatic insufficiency is 2 tablets per day (in one or two doses). : in the morning, afternoon, and / or evening, during meals.

The duration of the course of treatment can be several months (up to 12 months). In case of recurrent symptoms, the course of treatment may be repeated on the doctor’s recommendation.

The recommended dose for acute hemorrhoids is 6 tablets per day: 3 tablets in the morning and 3 tablets in the evening for 4 days, then 4 tablets per day: 2 tablets in the morning and 2 tablets in the evening for the next 3 days.

The recommended dose for chronic hemorrhoids is 2 tablets per day.

Overdose

Cases of overdose are not described.

If you overdose with Flebaven®, seek immediate medical attention.

Capsule-shaped, biconvex tablets, covered with a film-coated light orange-pink color.

Type of tablets on the break: rough mass from yellow to brownish-yellow with a film shell of light orange-pink color.

Special instructions

• It is recommended that you consult your doctor before starting to take Flebaven®.
• In case of acute hemorrhoids, the use of the drug Flebaven® does not replace the specific treatment of other anal disorders. The duration of treatment should not exceed the time specified in the section “Dosage and use”. In the event that the symptoms do not disappear after the recommended course of therapy, you should be examined by a proctologist, who will select further therapy.
• In the presence of venous circulatory disorders, the maximum effect of treatment is provided by combining therapy with a healthy (balanced) lifestyle: it is desirable to avoid long exposure to the sun, prolonged exposure to the feet, and it is also recommended to reduce excess body weight. Walking and, in some cases, wearing special stockings, helps to improve blood circulation.

Contact your doctor immediately if your condition worsens or does not improve during treatment.
