Pharmacological action
Buckthorn bark has a laxative effect.
The laxative effect usually occurs 8-12 hours after taking buckthorn.
Indications
Chronic constipation
Contraindications
- increased individual sensitivity to the components of the drug;

- spastic constipation;
- intestinal obstruction;
- bleeding;
- acute abdominal syndrome;
- appendicitis;
- other inflammatory processes in the abdominal cavity;

Side effects
Possible allergic reactions.
In case of overdose, colic-like abdominal pain, tenesmus, and abdominal discomfort are possible.
Long-term use leads to addiction and a weakening or lack of laxative effect.
How to take, course of use and dosage
About 12 g (2 tablespoons) of bark is placed in an enamel dish,200 ml (1 cup) of hot boiled water is poured, covered with a lid, heated in a boiling water bath with frequent stirring for 30 minutes, cooled at room temperature for 10 minutes, filtered, the remaining raw materials are squeezed out.
The volume of the resulting broth is brought with boiled water to 200 ml.
Take inside 1/2 cup at night and in the morning.
Special instructions
Possible staining of urine in yellow color, which does not require discontinuation of the drug.
