Antimicrobial drug, an antibiotic of polycyclic structure, belongs to the fusidine group. The mechanism of action is associated with a violation of protein synthesis in the bacterial cell.
By blocking the elongation of factor G, it prevents its binding to ribosomes and guanosine triphosphate, which interrupts the release of energy necessary for protein synthesis and leads to the death of the bacterial cell.
It is active against microorganisms that most often cause eye infections: Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae.
Enterobacteriaciae and Pseudomonas spp. resistant to the action of fusidic acid.
There are no reports of cross-resistance to fusidic acid.
Pharmacokinetics
Suction and distribution
Dosage form of the drug (viscous eye drops) provides long-term contact with the conjunctiva and sufficient concentration of fusidic acid in the tear fluid under the condition of application 2 times/day.
After 1,3,6 and 12 h after a single application of Fucithalmic average concentration of fusidic acid in the tear fluid is 15.7; 15.2; 10.5 and 5.6 µg/ml, respectively. In the intraocular fluid, the concentration of fusidic acid equal to 0.3 mcg / ml (after a single application) and 0.8 mcg/ml (after repeated application) is reached within 1 hour after application and maintained for at least 12 hours, while fusidic acid in the blood serum is not detected.
Deduction
It is mainly excreted in the bile. Urinary excretion is less than 1% of the dose.
Bacterial eye infections: conjunctivitis; blepharitis; keratitis; dacryocystitis.
It can be used as prescribed by the attending physician, if the expected therapeutic effect exceeds the potential risk of side effects.
Use in children
It can be used according to indications according to the dosage regimen.
Individual hypersensitivity to the components of the drug Fucithalmic. The preservative (benzalkonium chloride) is a potential allergen.
Rarely-allergic reactions in the form of edema of the follicles of the transitional fold of the conjunctiva and urticaria.
Possible — itching, burning, conjunctival hyperemia, soreness, lacrimation, swelling of the eyelids, exacerbation of conjunctivitis.
Therapy with Fucithalmic should be discontinued if signs of hypersensitivity to the drug appear.
There are no data on drug interactions.
Conjunctival. 1 drop into the conjunctival cavity of the affected eye 2 times a day for 7 days.
If there is no positive dynamics within 7 days of using the drug, the therapy should be reviewed using other drugs.
There are no data on overdose of the drug.
Long-term use of an antimicrobial drug can lead to the development of superinfection caused by microorganisms resistant to this drug, including fungi.
The tube must be closed after each use. Do not touch the tip of the tube to the eye.
It is not recommended to wear contact lenses while using the drug Futsitalmik. Fusidic acid microcrystals can cause scratches on the lenses or cornea.
Influence on the ability to drive motor vehicles and manage mechanisms
If blurred vision occurs after instillation, it is necessary to refrain from driving vehicles and engaging in potentially dangerous activities that require increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions until vision is restored.
