Pharmacological action
Galstena is a complex homeopathic medicine.
It has a hepatoprotective effect, which is manifested in reducing the severity of cytolysis syndrome and intrahepatic cholestasis, normalizes the motor and evacuation function of the biliary tract, eliminates the symptoms of dyspepsia.
Galstena has a choleretic, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory effect, prevents the formation of gallstones.
Pharmacokinetics
The effect of Galstena is the result of the combined action of its components, so it is not possible to conduct kinetic observations; all components together cannot be traced using markers or bioassays.
For the same reason, it is impossible to detect the metabolites of the drug.
Indications
- acute and chronic liver diseases (acute and chronic hepatitis, hepatosis);
- gallbladder diseases (chronic cholecystitis, cholelithiasis, postcholecystectomy syndrome);
- chronic pancreatitis.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Question about the use of the drug Galstena during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding) is solved individually, depending on the clinical situation.

How to take, course of use and dosage
For acute and chronic hepatitis, hepatosis, and chronic pancreatitis, children under the age of 1 year are prescribed 1 drop, children 1-12 years-5 drops, adults and adolescents – 10 drops. The frequency of reception is 3 times/day. Duration of treatment – at least 3 months. If necessary, the course of treatment can be repeated after 1 month.
For chronic cholecystitis, cholelithiasis, postcholecystectomy syndrome, children under 12 years of age are prescribed 5 drops, adults and adolescents-10 drops. The frequency of reception is 3 times/day. The duration of treatment is 3 months. If necessary, the course of treatment can be repeated after 1 month.
In acute cases, the drug is prescribed every 0.5-1 h, but not more than 8 times/day. After improvement of the condition, the drug is prescribed 3 times / day.
The drug is taken 30 minutes before or 1 hour after a meal (for children under 1 year-before or 1 hour after feeding).
Drops are taken in pure form or diluted in 1 tablespoon of water. For children under 1 year of age, drops are diluted in 1 teaspoon of water or mother’s milk.
Special instructions
Because the drug Galstena in the form of drops for oral use contains natural plant components, during storage there may be a slight turbidity of the solution or a weakening of the smell and taste, which does not lead to a decrease in the effectiveness of the drug.
