Pharmacological action
Pharmaceutical group:
antacid agent.
Pharmaceutical action:
Gastracid is a combined agent, the action of which is due to the components that make up its composition. Algeldrate has an antacid, adsorbing, enveloping, carminative effect.
Magnesium hydroxide has a mild laxative effect.
The drug neutralizes free HCl in the stomach, reduces the activity of gastric juice; inactivates pepsin and binds bile acids that enter the stomach as a result of reflux from the duodenum 12, has a protective effect on the mucous membrane of the stomach and duodenum 12; accelerates the motility of the stomach and all parts of the intestine. It does not cause secondary hypersecretion of HCl and alkalosis.

Indications
- acute gastritis, chronic gastritis with increased and normal secretory function in the acute phase; duodenitis, enteritis;
- ulcer disease of stomach and duodenum in the acute phase;
- hernia hiatal, reflux esophagitis;
- to discomfort and pain in the epigastrium when errors in diet, medicated, drinking coffee, nicotine, and alcohol;
- to prevent side effects in the treatment of corticosteroids and NSAIDs.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
During pregnancy, the drug should be taken under the supervision of a doctor and no more than 3 days.
Use in nursing mothers should be avoided.
Contraindications
- hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;
- fructose intolerance;
- hypophosphatemia;
- severe renal impairment;

Side effects
Constipation, nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, changes in taste sensations, hypermagnesemia, hypophosphatemia, hypocalcemia, hypercalciuria, osteomalacia, osteoporosis, hyperaluminemia, encephalopathy, nephrocalcinosis, impaired renal function, allergic reactions. Interaction
It can absorb some drugs, thus reducing their absorption. Reduces and slows down the absorption of digoxin, Indometacin, salicylates, chlorpromazine, phenytoin, N2– of histamine antagonists, beta-blockers, diflunisal, isoniazid, antibiotics, tetracycline, quinolone (ciprofloxacin, norfloxacin, ofloxacin, enoxacin, grepafloxacin, etc. ), azithromycin, cefpodoxime, pivampicillin, rifampicin, anticoagulants, barbiturates, Fexofenadine, dipyridamole, zalcitabine, bile acid — chenodeoxycholic and ursodeauxiholeva, the penicillamine, oral iron, and lithium, quinidine, of lansoprazole, mexiletine, ketoconazole.
When taken concomitantly with enteric drugs, the increased alkalinity of gastric juice can lead to premature disruption of the shell and irritation of the stomach and duodenum.

How to take, course of use and dosage
Inside, the tablets should be chewed or kept in the mouth until completely absorbed.
Adults and children over 15 years of age: Â 1-2 tablets 4 times a day 1 hour after meals and in the evening before going to bed or in case of discomfort, epigastric pain, heartburn.
The maximum daily dose is 12 tablets.
Children from 10 to 15 years are prescribed 1/2 of the recommended adult dose.
For prevention — 1 tablet 15 minutes before taking medications that irritate the mucous membrane of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum.
The duration of treatment should not exceed 15-20 days.
Overdose
Symptoms: Â with prolonged use of high doses, the formation of kidney stones, severe constipation, drowsiness, hypermagnesemia are possible. There may also be signs of metabolic alkalosis: changes in mood, numbness or pain in the muscles, nervousness and rapid fatigue, unpleasant taste sensations.
Treatment:  it is necessary to immediately take measures to quickly remove the drug — flush the stomach, induce vomiting, take activated charcoal.
Special instructions
Interval between taking Gastracid and other medications The HP should be 1-2 hours.
With prolonged use (more than 20 days), regular medical monitoring is necessary. The drug contains sorbitol, which is contraindicated in congenital fructose intolerance.
Driving vehicles and working with mechanisms
It does not affect the ability to drive a car or work with mechanisms.
