Composition
1 g of ointment contains gentamicin sulfate 100 mg
Pharmacological action
Broad-spectrum aminoglycoside antibiotic. Gentamicin-Akos has a bactericidal effect. Actively penetrating the bacterial cell membrane, it irreversibly binds to the 30S subunit of bacterial ribosomes and, thereby, inhibits protein synthesis of the pathogen. Highly active against aerobic gram-negative bacteria, as well as against aerobic gram-positive cocci, some strains. Neisseria meningitidis, Treponema pallidum, some strains of Streptococcus spp., and anaerobic bacteria are resistant to Gentamicin.
