Pharmacological action

Glycerin is a laxative for topical use.

Glycerin has a mild irritating effect on the rectal mucosa and reflexively stimulates peristalsis. Promotes softening of fecal matter.

When applied externally, Glycerin has a dermatoprotective effect, softens the skin and mucous membranes.

Indications

Constipation of various origins (including habitual, age-related, with limited mobility); dry skin and mucous membranes (for external use).

Contraindications

Acute hemorrhoids, anal fissures, inflammatory diseases and rectal tumors; hypersensitivity to glycerol.

Side effects

With prolonged external use of Glycerin:  irritation, allergic reactions.
