Pharmacological action

Gopantam – nootropic, anticonvulsant.

Pharmacodynamics

It has neurometabolic, neuroprotective and neurotrophic properties. Increases the brain’s resistance to hypoxia, stimulates anabolic processes in neurons, reduces motor excitability, and simultaneously regulates behavior. Increases mental and physical performance, reduces reactions to painful stimuli.

Pharmacokinetics

After oral use, it is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. T_max — 1 h. Penetrates through the BBB. It is not metabolized. It is excreted unchanged for 48 hours in the urine (about 67%) and in the feces (about 28%).

How to take, course of use and dosage

Inside,15-30 minutes after eating.

Single dose for adults-500-1000 mg, for children-250-500 mg; daily dose for adults-1500-3000 mg, for children with various pathologies of the nervous system-depending on age:

– up to 1 year-500-1000 mg / day;

– 1-3 years-1500-2000 mg/day;

– 3-15 years-2500-3000 mg / day.

The course of treatment is from 1 to 4 months, in some cases-up to 6 months. After 3-6 months, it is possible to conduct a second course of treatment.

Children with mental retardation and oligophrenia:  500 mg 4-6 times a day, daily for 3 months; with delayed speech development-500 mg 3-4 times a day for 2-3 months.

As a corrector for neuroleptic syndrome:  adults-500-1000 mg 3 times a day, children-250-500 mg 3-4 times a day. The course of treatment is 1-3 months.

For epilepsy: adults-500-1000 mg 3-4 times a day, children-250-500 mg 3-4 times a day, daily for a long time (up to 6 months).

When ticks occur:  adults-1500-3000 mg / day, children-250-500 mg 3-6 times a day, daily for 1-5 months.

If urination is disturbed:  adults-500-1000 mg 2-3 times a day (daily dose-2000-3000 mg), children-250-500 mg (daily dose-25-50 mg / kg). Course of treatment: 2 weeks -3 months.
