Pharmacological action

Pharmaceutical group:

immunostimulating agent.

Pharmaceutical action:  

Immunostimulating drug with antiviral effect. It is a complex containing inosine and N, N-dimethylamino-2-propanol in a molar ratio of 1: 3.

The effectiveness of the complex is determined by the presence of inosine, the second component increases its availability for lymphocytes. Groprinosin stimulates biochemical processes in macrophages, increases the production of interleukins. Increases the synthesis of antibodies, increases the proliferation of T-lymphocytes, T-helper cells, natural killer cells.

It stimulates the chemotactic and phagocytic activity of monocytes, macrophages, and polymorphonuclear cells. Groprinosin suppresses viral DNA and RNA replication by binding to the ribosome of the cell and changing its stereochemical structure.

The drug Groprinosin is well tolerated, because it has low toxicity. It can be prescribed to elderly patients with angina pectoris or chronic circulatory insufficiency.

Timely use of the drug reduces the frequency of viral infections, reduces the duration and severity of the disease.

The drug is indicated for patients with insufficient immune protection.

When Groprinosin is prescribed as an auxiliary drug for infectious lesions of the mucous membranes and skin caused by the Herpes simplex virus, faster healing of the affected surface occurs than with traditional treatment. New blisters, edema, erosions, and relapses of the disease are less common.

After oral use, the drug is well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and is characterized by good bioavailability. Metabolism and elimination

It is rapidly metabolized. Inosine is metabolized in a cycle typical of purine nucleotides, with the formation of uric acid, the level of which in the blood serum can sometimes increase. As a result, uric acid crystals may form in the urinary tract. No accumulation of the drug in the body was detected.

It is excreted by the kidneys. Complete elimination of the drug and its metabolites from the body occurs within 48 hours.

Indications

-immunodeficiency conditions caused by viral infections in patients with normal and weakened immune systems, including diseases caused by Herpes simplex viruses types 1 and 2 (including genital herpes and herpes of other localization);- subacute sclerosing panencephalitis.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Contraindicated, because the safety of use has not been established.

Contraindications

Gout, urolithiasis, renal failure, hypersensitivity to Groprinosine and its components.

Side effects

During the initial period of treatment, there may be a decrease in appetite, nausea, vomiting, dyspeptic disorders; minor hyperuricemia and hyperuricuria; dizziness, weakness, headaches, allergic reactions.

How to take, course of use and dosage

Groprinosin is taken orally, after meals, with a small amount of water, at regular intervals (8 or 6 hours) 3-4 times a day.

If the doctor does not prescribe otherwise, then take: adults — from 6 to 8 tables. daily, in 3-4 doses; children — 50 mg/kg/day, in 3-4 doses.

For severe infections, the dose can be increased (under the supervision of a doctor) to 100 mg/kg/day, in 4-6 doses.

The course is usually 5 days (if necessary, you can increase it); after 8 days, the course of treatment can be repeated.

Special instructions

Elderly patients do not need to change the dose.
