Gyno-pevaril is an antifungal drug.
Econazole nitrate has a broad spectrum of action and is active against dermatophytes, yeast and mold fungi. It also has clinically significant activity against gram-positive bacteria.
Econazole nitrate damages cell membranes, which leads to increased permeability of the fungal cell. The target of action of econazole nitrate is acyl groups of unsaturated fatty acids that are part of membrane phospholipids.
Vulvo-vaginal mycoses.
With intravaginal use of Gyno-Pevaryl econazole, nitrate is absorbed from the vagina into the systemic circulation, so the drug should not be used in the first trimester of pregnancy, except in cases of extreme necessity.
In the second and third trimesters, Gyno-Pevaril can be used if the potential benefit of therapy for the mother outweighs the possible risk to the fetus.
It is not known whether econazole nitrate penetrates into breast milk. Breast-feeding should be discontinued for the duration of the drug use.
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
There are no data on the drug interaction of the drug.
One 50 mg suppository is injected deep into the vagina 1 time / day before bedtime for at least 14 days. It is necessary to carry out a full course of treatment, even if the subjective symptoms disappear (pruritus, leukorrhea).
There are no reports of overdose of econazole nitrate.
– Symptoms: accidental ingestion of Gyno-Pevaril may cause nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. – Treatment: gastric lavage, ingestion of activated charcoal, carrying out symptomatic therapy.
If severe irritation occurs, treatment with Gyno-Pevaril should be discontinued.
Patients who are sensitive to imidazoles may also be hypersensitive to econazole nitrate.
Concomitant use of latex condoms or diaphragms and intravaginal medications to treat infections may reduce the effectiveness of latex barrier contraceptives. Therefore, Gino-Pevaril is not recommended to be used simultaneously with a diaphragm or condom.
Gyno-Pevaril should not be used in combination with other oral or external medications for the treatment of genital diseases.
Intravaginal medications may inactivate the spermicidal contraceptive.
The drug is not intended for oral use.
– Use in elderly patients Data on the use of Gyno-Pevaril in elderly patients (older than 65 years) are insufficient.
