Active ingredients:
choline salicylate anhydrous 87.1 mg;
cetalkonium chloride 0.1 mg;
Auxiliary substances:
hydroxyethylcellulose;
glycerin;
methyloxybenzoate;
propyloxybenzoate;
anise oil;
ethyl alcohol;
purified water.
Pharmacological action
When applied topically, the main active ingredient choline salicylate is rapidly absorbed through the oral mucosa, exerting a local analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effect.
It inhibits cyclooxygenase activity, macrophage and neutrophil functions, interleukin-1 production, and inhibits prostaglandin synthesis. It also has antimicrobial and antifungal effects (in acidic and alkaline environments).
Cetalkonium chloride is an antiseptic that acts on bacteria, fungi, and viruses.
The ethanol-containing gel adhesive base ensures rapid development of the effect and keeps active substances on the mucous membrane for a long time.
The analgesic effect occurs in 2-3 minutes, while its duration is 2-8 hours.
Pharmacokinetics
When applied to the mucous membranes, Cholisal is well absorbed.
Indications
For topical application on the oral mucosa as an analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent in the treatment of periodontal diseases, damage to the oral mucosa, diseases that occur with an inflammatory reaction and pain, including:
- the various etiologies stomatitis,
- gingivitis,
- periodontitis,
- damage to the mucosa of the oral cavity when wearing dentures,
- trauma of the mucous membrane of the mouth,
- the pain of teething in children,
- cheilitis,
- candidiasis of the mucous membrane of the mouth,
- small surgical intervention in case of oral
- lichen planus with the localization of the mucous membrane of the mouth,
- the lesion of the mucous membrane of the oral cavity with the Stevens-Johnson syndrome in the complex therapy.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Possible with caution and only as directed by a doctor.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to salicylates and other components of the drug.
With caution: Â pregnancy, lactation, and children under 1 year of age.
Side effects
Possible allergic reactions, sometimes (with acute damage to the oral mucosa)Â – short-term slight burning sensation that passes on its own.
Interaction
Only in the case of a significant overdose of CCholisal due to the general effect of cholinsalicylate, it is possible to increase the effect of other anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and analgesic drugs.
How to take, course of use and dosage
Topically,2-3 times a day before meals (for the purpose of pain relief) or after meals and before going to bed (unless otherwise prescribed).
Gel in the amount of 1 cm for adults and 0.5 cm for children is squeezed onto a clean finger and rubbed with light massaging movements into the affected area of the mucous membrane.
For periodontal diseases: the gel is injected into the gingival pockets, applied in the form of compresses or gently rubbed into the gums 1-2 times a day.
