Auxiliary substances: petroleum jelly, liquid paraffin, lanolin.
Pharmacological action
Pharmacotherapy group – glucocorticosteroid for topical use. ATX code S01BA02
Pharmacodynamics
The drug contains hydrocortisone acetate, a glucocorticosteroid, as the Active ingredient.
When applied topically, hydrocortisone acetate suppresses inflammatory and allergic reactions that occur in the area of the outer membranes and the anterior segment of the eye.
The effect of hydrocortisone acetate, like other corticosteroids, is based on the suppression of the function of leukocytes and tissue macrophages. It restricts the migration of white blood cells, macrophages, and mast cells to the area of inflammation and suppresses the formation of interleukin-1. It helps to stabilize lysosomal membranes, thereby reducing the concentration of proteolytic enzymes in the area of inflammation. Reduces capillary permeability due to histamine release. Inhibits fibroblast activity and collagen formation. It inhibits the activity of phospholipase A2, which leads to suppression of prostaglandin and leukotriene synthesis.
Pharmacokinetics
The penetration of hydrocortisone acetate through the cornea into the moisture of the anterior chamber of the eye is possible due to lipophilic properties. The penetration of hydrocortisone acetate into the tissues depends on the condition of the cornea and increases significantly in the case of inflammation or damage to the eye mucosa.
