Composition

Active ingredient: Ipeca C9 Excipients: Sucrose, lactose.

Pharmacological action

Pharmacological group: Homeopathic monocomponent preparation of plant originpharmacological properties: Ipeca is made from the root of Cephaelis ipecacuanha (Brot. ) Rich., a Brazilian herbaceous plant also known as ipecacuanha Matto Grosso. Chemical composition: starch, resin, mineral salts; alkaloids, isoquinoline derivatives (emetin, cephaelin, psychothrin); soluble tannin, ipecacuanoic acid-a remedy for diarrhea; heteroside (ipecacoside) – an antispasmodic agent; glycoproteins that cause allergies. The composition of the drug Ipeca and the properties of its alkaloids, in particular, explain its therapeutic use in allopathic medicine: in low doses, Cephaelis ipecacuanha has an expectorant effect (thanks to cephaelin) and is part of cough syrups; in higher doses, the drug is used as a powder or syrup as an emetic (thanks to emetin).

Indications

Key symptoms for prescribing the drug: -nausea, in which vomiting does not bring relief; – shortness of breath;- bleeding scarlet blood. Main cases of clinical use: Pulmonology: spastic cough that causes vomiting; acute bronchitis, bronchiolitis; asthma; bronchospasm (the use of rapid-acting bronchodilators is necessary in the absence of noticeable improvement); pertussis-like cough and whooping cough with attacks that cause blueness of the face and vomiting; sputum with an admixture of blood. Gastroenterology: severe nausea and vomiting, the tongue is clean or with a small plaque, heavy salivation; toxicosis of the beginning of pregnancy with heavy salivation; gastroenteritis; diarrhea after eating unripe fruit or with the onset of cold weather; hemorrhagic rectocolitis.

Contraindications

Individual sensitivity to the drug; lactose intolerance.

Interaction

Other medications may be used in the treatment with Ipeca.

How to take, course of use and dosage

Sublingual. Granules should be absorbed in the mouth 30 minutes before meals or 60 minutes after meals. For children from 0 to 3 years of age, the pellets are pre-diluted, shaking, in 10-15 ml of water at room temperature and given to drink. The optimal amount per dose is 5 pellets. To determine the dilution, multiplicity and duration of use, you need to consult a doctor.

Overdose

So far, no overdose cases have been reported.

Storage conditions

The drug should be stored out of the reach of children, protected from light and moisture, away from electrical appliances at a temperature of 15-25 C.
