Composition

Pharmacological action
Dry Balm Karipain is a direct-acting proteolytic enzyme preparation of plant origin derived from papaya latex.
Karipain is characterized by a broad-spectrum proteolytic activity, the units of activity are expressed according to the classification of the International Federation of Pharmaceuticals (1 fl of Karipain corresponds to 350 Fip-PE). It is a complete analogue of the Georgian drug Karipazim.
Karipain is a highly effective drug used for spinal osteochondrosis, including various forms of herniated discs, Schmorl’s hernias, for the treatment of joint contractures (post-traumatic and post-stroke), keloid scars of various origins, discogenic radiculitis, tunnel syndrome.
Indications
The drug Karipain is used to treat various diseases of the joints, bones (musculoskeletal system), such as:
- Schmorl’s hernias;
- arthrozoarthritis of large joints;
- osteochondrosis of the spine;
- post-traumatic flexor contractures of the fingers;
- shoulder-scapular periarthritis.
In addition, this drug is used for the treatment of various keloid scars due to the occurrence, for the treatment of cerebral (including optochiasmal), spinal arachnoiditis, with neuritis of the facial nerve.
Contraindications
-Hypersensitivity to the components of Karipain; – acute inflammatory processes in the tissues;- disc herniation sequestration and foramenal sequestration placement.
Side effects
When using Karipain, allergic reactions are possible.
In case of hypersensitivity, manifested by itching and fever, antihistamine therapy is performed (tavegil, suprastin, Claritine, diazoline, local treatment with hydrocortisone, etc. ).
How to take, course of use and dosage
Karipain dry balm can be used in any medical institution that has an electrophoresis device (for example, Potok-1). The technique is specially adapted for convenient use in a polyclinic, MSH, medical center, hospital.
Course treatment – 1 course of 20 – 30 procedures. Breaks of 1-2 days between treatments are allowed. If necessary, repeat courses in 30-60 days.
For the treatment of spinal osteochondrosis, cervical osteochondrosis, and intervertebral disc protrusions, one course of treatment with Karipain is recommended – 20 to 30 procedures.
Treatment of intervertebral hernias – from 1 to 3 courses of 20-30 procedures each (the number of courses is determined by the attending physician). The interval between courses is from 1 to 2 months. For hernias larger than 5 mm,3 courses are recommended.
Dry balm Karipain is introduced by electrophoresis from the positive pole. Immediately before the procedure,1 bottle of the drug is diluted with 10 ml of saline solution (or water for injection). Add 2-3 drops of Dimexide to the solution.
The temperature of gaskets is strictly 37-39°C (controlled by a water thermometer), pH 5-7. The solution is applied to a white filter paper placed on the electrode pads. The dimensions of the gasket electrode are 10 x 15 cm. The current strength is up to 10-15 mA (at the beginning of each procedure, it increases gradually, starting from 5 mA). The exposure time from 10 to 20 minutes also increases gradually.
Failure to comply with these parameters leads to a sharp decrease in the effectiveness of the drug!
Special instructions
Between the 5th and 8th procedures, a temporary exacerbation of the underlying disease is possible, which disappears after 3-5 procedures.
It is important not to stop treatment!
Karipain should not be administered intravenously or intramuscularly!
