Ketonal is an NSAID derived from propionic acid. It has analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects. The mechanism of action is associated with inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis at the cyclooxygenase level. In addition, ketoprofen inhibits lipoxygenase, has anti-radikinin activity, stabilizes lysosomal membranes, and causes significant inhibition of neutrophil activity in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. The pronounced analgesic effect of ketoprofen is due to two mechanisms: peripheral (indirectly, through suppression of prostaglandin synthesis) and central (due to inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis in the central and peripheral nervous systems).
It is used for joint and muscle pain caused by injuries or chronic diseases, including arthritis or arthrosis. Ketonal cream with an enhanced formula begins to act in 30 minutes.
