Composition
Active ingredient:
sodium picosulfate monohydrate (based on 100% substance) 7.5 mg;
Auxiliary substances:
liquid sorbitol 70% uncrystallized-680 mg
; sodium ethyl parahydroxybenzoate-0.66 mg;
hydrochloric acid 35% – up to the required amount;
water up to-1 ml
Pharmacological action
Laxygal is a laxative.
The active form of the drug, formed by hydrolysis under the influence of intestinal microorganisms, directly excites the nerve structures of the intestinal wall, as a result of which the movement of intestinal contents accelerates, and the absorption of electrolytes and water decreases.
The action occurs 10-12 hours after ingestion.
Pharmacokinetics
After oral use, it is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and does not undergo hepatic-intestinal circulation.
Indications
- atonic constipation;
- regulation of stool (hemorrhoids, proctitis, anal fissures);
- preparation for surgical operations, instrumental and X-ray examinations.
Contraindications
- intestinal obstruction;
- pinched hernia;
- acute inflammatory diseases of the abdominal cavity;
- peritonitis;
- abdominal pain (unknown origin);
- bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract;
- metrorrhagia;
- cystitis;
- severe dehydration;
- spastic constipation;
- childhood (up to 4 years);
- pregnancy (I trimester);
- hypersensitivity.
With caution: lactation period.
Side effects
Possible: diarrhea, abdominal pain, dehydration, impaired water and electrolyte balance, weakness, convulsions, decreased blood pressure.
Interaction
Increased sensitivity to cardiac glycosides may occur.
Corticosteroids and diuretics increase the risk of developing electrolyte disorders.
Broad-spectrum antibiotics reduce the laxative effect.
How to take, course of use and dosage
Inside, before going to bed, diluting in a small amount of water.
Adults and children over 10 years of age — 12-24 drops (5-10 mg).
Children from 4 to 10 years — 6-12 drops (2.5–5 mg).
Depending on the effect, the dose is increased or decreased in subsequent doses.
Overdose
Symptoms: with a chronic overdose, ischemia of the colon mucosa, secondary hyperaldosteronism, urolithiasis, and renal tubule damage may develop.
Treatment: gastric lavage, correction of water-electrolyte balance disorders, antispasmodics.
