Pharmacological action
Lecroin is an anti-allergic drug that stabilizes mast cell membranes. Prevents degranulation of mast cells and the release of histamine, bradykinin, leukotrienes (including slow-reacting substances) and other biologically active substances.
With preventive use, the drug is most effective.
In allergic eye diseases, the full clinical effect is achieved after a few days or weeks of treatment with the drug.
Pharmacokinetics
Suction
When using eye drops, the absorption of sodium cromoglycate through the eye mucosa is insignificant.
The systemic bioavailability is less than 0.1%.
Removal
of T1 / 2 is 5-10 minutes.
Indications
- Acute and chronic allergic conjunctivitis;
- keratoconjunctivitis;
- irritation of the eye mucosa caused by allergic reactions (environmental factors, occupational hazards, household chemicals, cosmetics, ophthalmic preparations, plant pollen and pet dander).
Use during pregnancy and lactation
During pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding), the drug should be used with caution and only if the intended benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus or infant.
Use in children
Contraindication: children under 4 years of age.
Contraindications
- children under 4 years of age;
- hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
Side effects
From the side of the organ of vision: possible short-term pain, local irritation.
Benzalkonium chloride, which is part of eye drops packed in dropper bottles, is moderately cytotoxic and can cause superficial damage to the corneal epithelium; blepharitis, eyelid dermatitis, conjunctivitis and keratoconjunctivitis are also possible.
Interaction
There were no negative symptoms of interaction of Cromoglicic acid with other drugs.
When using Cromoglicic acid, it is possible to reduce the need for the use of ophthalmic drugs containing corticosteroids.
How to take, course of use and dosage
Adults and children are prescribed 1-2 drops of Lecroline in the lower conjunctival sac of the affected eye 4 times a day.

With topical application of the drug, overdose is unlikely. Experimental studies have shown that the local and systemic toxicity of Cromoglicic acid is very low.
Symptoms: possible nausea.
Treatment: performing symptomatic therapy.
Special instructions
When using Lecroline eye drops in patients with allergic conjunctivitis, the need for corticosteroids decreases.
Lecroline is not indicated for the treatment of bacterial or viral conjunctivitis.
Lecroline eye drops packed in a dropper bottle contain the preservative benzalkonium chloride. Therefore, patients who wear contact lenses should remove them before applying the drops and put them back no earlier than 15 minutes after instillation.
 No cytotoxic, mutagenic, or carcinogenic effects of Cromoglicic acid were detected in experimental studies.
Influence on the ability to drive motor vehicles and manage mechanisms
