Indications
It is used in adults and children as an expectorant for diseases of the upper respiratory tract, accompanied by cough, mainly in the presence of poorly separated, thick and viscous secretions (especially in children and the elderly).
Recommendations for use
Inside. Adults and children over 12 years of age: 1 teaspoon (previously diluted in 1/2 cup of water) 3 times a day. Children under 2 years of age-1-2 drops (previously diluted in 1 teaspoon of water ) 3 times a day.. ‘Children from 2 to 6 years – 2-10 drops (previously diluted in 1 teaspoon of water) 3 times a day. Children from 6 to 12 years – 50 drops (previously diluted in 1/2 cup of water) 3 times a day.. The course of treatment is 7-10 days. The expediency of conducting a second course of treatment is determined by the doctor. In the presence of poorly separated sputum and to facilitate expectoration, a plentiful warm drink is recommended.
Contraindications
Increased individual sensitivity to the components of the drug, sucrose/isomaltase deficiency, fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption, pregnancy, breastfeeding, bronchial asthma, gastritis, gastric and duodenal ulcer during exacerbation. With caution: Liver diseases, alcoholism, traumatic brain injury, brain diseases, diabetes mellitus; childhood. Side effects
Allergic reactions are possible; in some cases, dyspeptic phenomena (diarrhea) may occur. With prolonged use, hypokalemia, increased blood pressure, and the appearance of peripheral edema due to impaired water-salt metabolism are possible. If any of the side effects listed in the instructions get worse, or you notice any other side effects not listed in the instructions, tell your doctor.
Interaction
The drug can be prescribed simultaneously with drugs used in the treatment of bronchopulmonary diseases. Do not use concomitantly with drugs containing codeine and other antitussive medications, as this makes it difficult to clear the thin sputum.
Overdose
When using the drug in doses exceeding the recommended ones, it is possible to increase the dose-dependent side effects.
Special instructions
Information for patients with diabetes mellitus: one teaspoon of the drug contains 0.29 bread units (XE), in 1 drop – 0.0024 XE. >The maximum single dose of the drug for adults contains 0.54 g of absolute alcohol, the maximum daily dose-1.62 g of absolute alcohol, in 1 drop (for children) – 0.0046 g of absolute alcohol.
