Pharmacological action
Phenazone has an anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect. Lidocaine has a local anesthetic effect.
Indications
Local symptomatic treatment and analgesia in children from birth and adults with otitis media with an intact eardrum, including when:
- acute exudative otitis media;
- otitis as a complication after influenza, exudative viral otitis;
- barotraumatic otitis.
If necessary, consult your doctor before using the medicine.
Recommendations for use
Locally. In the external auditory canal on the side of the lesion, adults and children 2-3 times a day for 4 drops. Duration of therapy: no more than 10 days. Before using ear drops, it is recommended to warm the bottle by holding it in your hand, in order to avoid unpleasant sensations associated with the ingress of cold liquid into the ear. Drops should be instilled in the patient lying with the ear turned up; after the procedure, the patient should remain in this position for several minutes. You should see your doctor if symptoms worsen or don’t improve after 2-3 days of treatment. If there is no improvement after treatment or new symptoms appear, you should consult your doctor. Use the drug only according to the method of use and in the doses indicated in the instructions.
Contraindications
- hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;
- perforation of the eardrum (including infectious or traumatic origin);
- hypersensitivity to pyrazolone derivatives (drugs containing metamizole sodium, phenylbutazone).
With caution
It is necessary to ensure the integrity of the eardrum before starting the drug. If the drug is used for a perforated eardrum, the drug may come into contact with the organs of the middle ear and lead to complications.
Side effects
There is a risk of local allergic reactions, irritation and hyperemia of the ear canal. If any of the side effects listed in the instructions get worse, or you notice any other side effects not listed in the instructions, tell your doctor.
Special instructions
The duration of use of Lorotox® should not exceed 10 days, after which the prescribed treatment should be reviewed. When using Lorotox® in combination with other ear drops, it is necessary to maintain an interval of at least 30 minutes between instillations.
