Pharmacodynamics :

Methylethylpyridinol is an inhibitor of free radical processes and an antioxidant. It has an effect on the blood coagulation system: reduces blood viscosity slows down platelet aggregation lengthens blood clotting time. Stabilizes the membranes of blood vessel cells and red blood cells increases the resistance of red blood cells to mechanical injury and hemolysis. Reduces the permeability of the vascular wall increases the content of cyclic nucleotides in platelets (cyclic adenosine monophosphate and cyclic guanosine monophosphate) has fibrinolytic activity promotes resorption of hemorrhages improves microcirculation in retinal vessels and other eye tissues. It has retinoprotective properties and protects the retina of the eye from the damaging effects of high-intensity light.

Pharmacokinetics:

The volume of distribution is 52 liters. Half-life – 18 min; total clearance-02 l / min. It is metabolized in the liver. It is excreted by the kidneys.

Indications

As part of complex therapy:

• subconjunctival and intraocular hemorrhages of various origins;
• the angioretinopathia (including diabetic);
• Central and peripheral chorioretinal degeneration;
• thrombosis of the Central retinal vein and its branches;
• complications of myopia;
• angiosclerosis maculodystrophy (dry form);
• detachment of the choroid in the postoperative period after surgical intervention for glaucoma;
• degenerative diseases of the cornea;
• trauma burns of the cornea;
• the treatment and prevention of eye damage by high light intensity (the laser radiation by laser coagulation).

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Use during pregnancy and lactation is allowed if the benefit to the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus and child.

Contraindications

Increased individual sensitivity to the drug in children under 18 years of age.

Side effects

From the cardiovascular system:  increased blood pressure.

Nervous system disorders:  short-term agitation drowsiness.

Allergic reactions:  skin rashes itching swelling peeling of the skin hyperemia theme.

Interaction

It is forbidden to mix Methylethylpyridinol in the same syringe with other medicinal products (pharmacologically incompatible with other medicinal products).

How to take, course of use and dosage

The drug is used as part of complex therapy.

For subconjunctival and intraocular hemorrhages of various origins-subconjunctivally or parabulbarno 05 ml 1 time a day, the course of treatment is 10-15 days;

For central and peripheral chorioretinal dystrophy and angiosclerotic macular dystrophy (dry form) – parabulbarno 05 ml 1 time a day, the course of treatment is 10-15 days;

With thrombosis of the central retinal vein and its branches-parabulbarno 05 ml 1 time a day, the course of treatment is 10-15 days;

With complicated myopia-parabulbarno 05 ml 1 time a day the course of treatment-10-30 days, it is possible to repeat the course 2-3 times a year;

In case of vascular detachment in patients with glaucoma in the postoperative period-parabulbar or subconjunctival 05-10 ml 1 time in 2 days, the course of treatment is 10 injections;

For injuries and burns of the cornea of the 2nd degree-parabulbarno 05 ml 1 time a day, the course of treatment is 10-15 injections;

For dystrophic diseases of the cornea-subconjunctivally 05 ml 1 time a day, the course of treatment is 10-30 days;

To protect the retina during laser coagulation (including limiting and destructive coagulation of tumors) – parabulbarno 05-10 ml of 1% solution (5-10 mg) for 24 hours and 1 hour before coagulation; then in the same doses (05 ml of 1% solution) 1 time a day for 2-10 days.

Overdose

In case of overdose, the severity of side effects of the drug may increase. Symptoms: increased blood pressure agitation and drowsiness headache pain in the heart area nausea discomfort in the epigastric region blood clotting disorders may occur.

Special instructions

Treatment with Methylethylpyridinol should be carried out under the control of blood pressure and blood clotting.

Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and mechanisms:

If drowsiness develops, it is necessary to refrain from driving vehicles and other moving mechanisms, as well as to exercise caution when performing potentially dangerous activities that require increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.
