Momat-S is a drug with anti-inflammatory and keratolytic action for external use. Mometasone furoate is a potent corticosteroid. It has anti-inflammatory, antipruritic and vasoconstrictor effects.
GCS induces the release of proteins (lipocortins) that inhibit phospholipase A2. Lipocortins control the biosynthesis of such potent inflammatory mediators as prostaglandins and leukotrienes by inhibiting the release of their common precursor, arachidonic acid.
Arachidonic acid is released from membrane phospholipids by phospholipase A 2. In In vitro, mometasone furoate has been shown to inhibit the synthesis of cytokines-interleukin-1( IL-1), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), which are involved in the inflammatory process.
Salicylic acid causes exfoliation of the stratum corneum of the skin and, at the same time, does not lead to qualitative or quantitative changes in the structure of the viable epidermis. This mechanism of action is explained by the dissolution of the intercellular binder.
Psoriasis, atopic dermatitis and other dermatoses, including in the scalp; allergic rhinitis, seasonal and chronic (treatment and prevention).
-Bacterial, viral (caused by the herpes simplex virus, chickenpox, shingles) or fungal skin infections— – rosacea;- perioral dermatitis;— post-vaccination reactions— – skin tuberculosis— – syphilis— – age up to 12 years;— pregnancy— – lactation period;- hypersensitivity to mometasone furoate, salicylic acid, or any other component of Momat-C.
Caution should be exercised when prescribing the drug for inflammatory diseases (including peripheral blood vessels), skin irritation or infection, as well as patients receiving high doses of salicylates (for example, rheumatoid arthritis), patients with diabetes mellitus, glaucoma and cataracts.
Burning, itching, tingling and tingling, paresthesia, folliculitis, acne, skin atrophy, hypertrichosis, hypopigmentation, perioral dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis, maceration of the skin, secondary infection, striae, sweating.
When Momat-S was applied topically, very small but measurable amounts of salicylates were observed in the blood plasma.
According to published data on the interaction of salicylates with other substances after ingestion or application to the skin, it is possible to change the action of the following medicinal compounds: tolbutamide (butamide), methotrexate, heparin, pyrazinamide, agents that promote the elimination of uric acid, and indirect anticoagulants.
Other corticosteroids and ammonium sulfate may affect the salicylic acid content.
These interactions should be taken into account when prescribing Momat-C together with these compounds.
Externally, apply a thin layer on the affected areas of the skin 2 times a day (morning and evening);
the maximum daily dose is 15 g.
Prolonged use of topical corticosteroids in excessive amounts may lead to suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system and secondary adrenal insufficiency.
If there is a suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system, then you should stop using the ointment or reduce the frequency of applications.
In case of toxicity caused by salicylic acid, the use of Momat-S should be discontinued. Fluids should be administered to stimulate the excretion of salicylates in the urine.
If necessary, oral or intravenous use of sodium bicarbonate and potassium salts can be prescribed.
Appropriate precautions should be taken if the ointment is applied to large areas of the skin or if it is intended to be used for a long time (especially when used in pediatrics). Due to the fact that the ratio of skin surface to body weight in children is higher than in adults, children may show a higher sensitivity to the action of corticosteroids than adults, with signs of suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system and the manifestation of Cushing’s syndrome.
The ointment is not recommended for use with occlusive dressings, including diapers and diapers. The product is not intended for use on the face or in the groin and armpits. The ointment should not be used in ophthalmology. Children should receive the minimum amount of corticosteroids needed to achieve the effect. Long-term therapy with corticosteroids may have undesirable effects on the growth and development of children.
In case of irritation, including excessive dryness of the skin and allergic reactions, the use of Momat-S should be discontinued and appropriate treatment should be prescribed. If a concomitant skin infection develops, you should use the necessary antifungal or antibacterial agent.
If a positive response to treatment is not achieved quickly, Momat-S should be discontinued until the infection is properly eliminated. It is necessary to assess the risk and expected effect of using Momat-S in the presence of the following diseases: diabetes mellitus, peripheral vascular damage or inflammation, skin irritation or infection.
Corticosteroids can cause changes in the appearance of affected areas of the skin, which makes it difficult to make a correct diagnosis and leads to slower recovery.
