Composition

Auxiliary substances:
benzalkonium chloride (50% solution),

Pharmacological action
Pharmacogroup:
anticongestive agent-vasoconstrictor (alpha-adrenomimetic).
Pharmaceutical action:
Nasol is an alpha-adrenostimulating agent for topical use.
Oxymetazoline belongs to the group of alpha-adrenostimulants for topical use. It has a vasoconstrictive effect.
When administered intranasally, it reduces swelling of the mucous membrane of the upper respiratory tract, which leads to relief of nasal breathing and opening of the mouths of the paranasal sinuses and eustachian tubes.
The effect of the drug appears 10-15 minutes after application and lasts for 10-12 hours.
Indications
To facilitate nasal breathing in: – colds and viral infections of the upper respiratory tract-sinusitis and rhinitis of any etiology.
Contraindications
-hypersensitivity to the drug Nazol or its components;— atrophic rhinitis— – children under 6 years of age;— pregnancy; – lactation period.
With caution, the drug Nazol should be used in patients suffering from diseases of the cardiovascular system (arterial hypertension, coronary heart disease, chronic heart failure, tachycardia, arrhythmias), impaired carbohydrate metabolism (diabetes mellitus), thyroid function (hyperthyroidism), pheochromocytoma, chronic renal failure, prostatic hyperplasia (urinary retention) and angle-closure glaucoma, taking MAO inhibitors, tricyclic drugs antidepressants.
Side effects
Sometimes burning or dryness of the nasal membranes, dryness in the mouth and throat, sneezing, an increase in the volume of secretions released from the nose.
In rare cases, after the effect of the drug passes, a strong feeling of “stuffy” nose (reactive hyperemia).
Side effects due to the systemic action of the drug: increased blood pressure, headache, dizziness, palpitations, increased anxiety, nausea, insomnia.
With prolonged use of the drug Nazol (more than 7 days) possible: reactive hyperemia of the nasal mucosa, atrophy of the nasal mucosa, tachyphylaxis (rapid decrease in the therapeutic effect with repeated use).
Interaction
When Nazol is co-administered with MAO inhibitors (including a period of 14 days after their withdrawal) and tricyclic antidepressants, an increase in blood pressure may occur.
The drug slows down the absorption of local anesthetics, prolongs their effect.
Co-use of other vasoconstrictor drugs increases the risk of side effects.
How to take, course of use and dosage
Intranasally. Adults and children over 12 years of age – 2-3 injections of Nasol in each nasal passage 2 times / day.
Children from 6 to 12 years – 1 injection in each nasal passage 2 times / day.
Do not use the drug Nazol more than 2 times a day. Duration of treatment: it is not recommended to use the drug for more than 3 days. With frequent or prolonged use of the drug, the feeling of difficulty in nasal breathing may reappear or worsen. If these symptoms occur, you should stop treatment and consult a doctor.
When injecting, do not tilt your head back or spray while lying down.
Overdose
Prolonged or frequent use of Nasol in the nasal cavity can cause nausea, increased blood pressure, tachycardia, and central nervous system depression.
Treatment is symptomatic.
