Composition
Active ingredient:
0.05 g. nicotinic acid;
Auxiliary substances:
glucose,
stearic acid.
Pharmacological action
Nicotinic acid is a specific anti-pyelargic agent (vitamin PP).
Improves carbohydrate metabolism, has a vasodilating effect, including on the vessels of the brain, has hypolipidemic activity.
In large doses of 3-4 g per day, nicotinic acid reduces the content of triglycerides and low-density lipoproteins in the blood, reduces the cholesterol/phospholipids ratio in low-density lipoproteins.
It has detoxifying properties.
Indications
- Prevention and treatment of pellagra (vitamin PP);
- complex therapy of ischemic disorders of cerebral circulation, obliterating diseases of the vessels of the extremities (obliterating endarteritis, Raynaud’s disease) and kidney complications of diabetes (diabetic neuropathy, microangiopathy);
- liver diseases (acute and chronic hepatitis), gastritis with low acidity, neuritis of the facial nerve, various intoxications (professional, drugs, alcohol), nonhealing wounds and ulcers.
Contraindications
Increased individual sensitivity to the components of the drug.
Severe forms of hypertension and atherosclerosis.
Gout.
Hyperuricemia.
Nephrolithiasis.
Decompensated diabetes mellitus.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding period.
Peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum (in the acute stage), severe liver failure.
Children under 3 years of age.
With caution
Hemorrhages, glaucoma, gout, liver failure, diabetes mellitus, hypotension, hyperacid gastritis, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum (without exacerbation).
Side effects
Redness of the face and upper body (especially when taken on an empty stomach and in people with hypersensitivity), dizziness, a feeling of rush of blood to the head, paresthesia, urticaria.
With rapid intravenous use and hypersensitivity — orthostatic hypotension.
With prolonged use — liver dystrophy, increased uric acid content in the blood, decreased glucose tolerance.
How to take, course of use and dosage
Inside after eating. As an anti-pyelarg agent, nicotinic acid is prescribed for adults at 0.1 g 2-4 times a day (the highest daily dose is 0.5 g). Children are prescribed from 0.0125 to 0.05 g 2-3 times a day, depending on their age. The course of treatment is 15-20 days.
Adults with ischemic disorders of the cerebral circulation, spasms of the vessels of the extremities, gastritis with low acidity, neuritis of the facial nerve, wounds and ulcers, nicotinic acid is recommended to be prescribed in a single dose of 0.05-0.1 g, in a daily dose of up to 0.5 g. The course of treatment is 1 month.
