Composition

Active ingredient:

Pharmacological action

Novocainamide is a Class 1 antiarrhythmic drug and is a membrane-stabilizing agent.

Reduces the excitability and conductivity of the heart muscle, suppresses the formation of impulses in ectopic foci, has a local anesthetic effect.

Slightly reduces myocardial contractility and blood pressure.

Indications

• paroxysmal atrial fibrillation,
• atrial flutter,
• paroxysmal ventricular tachycardia,
• ventricular extrasystole,
• prevention and treatment of heart rhythm disorders in operations on the heart, large vessels and lungs.

Contraindications

Acute myocardial infarction, severe heart failure, atrioventricular blockages, cardiogenic shock, severe renal failure, hypersensitivity to the drug.

Side effects

Low blood pressure, tachyarrhythmia, weakness, headache.

How to take, course of use and dosage

Inside, regardless of food intake.

Ventricular extrasystole: 0.25-1 g, then 0.25-0.5 g every 3-6 hours (if necessary, the daily dose can be increased to 3-4 g).

Paroxysms of atrial fibrillation: 1-1.5 g once. After 1 hour (in the absence of an effect), another 0.5 g and then every 2 hours 0.5–1 g (until the paroxysm is stopped). The highest daily dose is 3 g.

Special instructions

It should be used with caution in patients with myocardial infarction.

It is not recommended to prescribe with severe atherosclerosis, as well as simultaneously with drugs that undergo acetylation in the liver.

Care should be taken when driving a vehicle or performing work that requires increased attention and quick response.
